Early screenshots of my map
I switched from a city setting to a forest/nature setting because the editor only displays high detail models/textures and after you add a few buildings, if you don't have a supercomputer it slows down to a halt.
The map will have ~4 CPs, excluding the 2 UCBs. The only vehicles will be a bunch of small jeeps (FAV/jeep not Humvees) and one China transport helicopter for both teams. I don't want a Blackhawk for the US since it's way too overpowered so both teams will have a China transport. I'm going for a forest infantry battle type of map with lots of places to set up real ambushes, like having a squad prone into a bunch of vegetation and being pretty much invisible till they pop up (they can't see while in the vegetation though).
It's still in very early stage, I'd say like 15-20% done. There is no vegetation or proper lighting yet so it doesn't exactly look great right now but here are some screenshots.

Re: Early screenshots of my map
Good job so far.
Have you used objects or overgrowth to create those forests?
To me they look object created, thats like creating a city so will slow your pc down as well..... overgrowth is the way to go.
When I read the description I was scared it would be the same as my map but its clearly different but follows the theme
Good luck.

No I haven't figured out how to use overgrowth yet. They're all objects but much to my surprise it doesn't lag at all.

Re: Early screenshots of my map
mmm very strange, buildings and trees are both objects so I don't see why a city would lag but a forest wouldn't... Might be a size thing.
Will post overgrowth stuff in appropriate topic.

Re: Early screenshots of my map
I haven't been in EVERY forest, per se, but in the ones I HAVE been in, the trees don't grow in straight lines. It could be different in China though so don't go changing your map yet.

Re: Early screenshots of my map
Yes I very much realize that, but there are many man-made forests who have trees planted in straight lines. You can see them in many movies and they aren't made up, it exists and I think it makes for a more interesting fighting area. There will be a more traditional forest along with this one. The forest in the screenshot is man-made and the map will most likely include a "sawmill" type of building and a warehouse/railroad in the forest used to transport the wood etc.

Okay, cool. I figured it was a natural forest since that tree was broken in half over the ditch, and I thought a logging company wouldn't leave falled trees lying around.
