I wouldn't really view Tactical Mod and these other mods as being in competition. As far as I know, the big mods like FH2, PoE2, and DC are primarily new content mods, while Tactical Mod just makes some gameplay tweaks to the existing content that possibly makes the game more interesting. If both mods proved popular enough, it's possible that we could see things like Tactical Mod: Forgotten Hope, Tactical Mod: Point of Existence, etc.

I think I might be the only person on the planet who really hated Desert Combat. The reason was that it felt like a super-weapons mod. I really liked the tanks which took skill to use in BF1942, and adding the M1A2 (?) with dead straight fire, high rate of fire, zero recoil, and high movement speed just turned me off. Not my cup of tea.
That and the fact that half of the players crashed when we loaded it up at a LAN party.
I really liked some of the stuff in Secret Weapons, especially the maps.
I missed PoE and FH, unfortunately. I checked them out a few times, but I just didn't see enough positive buzz to convince me to install them and try them out.

Re: Forgotten Hope Updates
Yeah, now that I think about it Forgotten Hope will let me do some REAL dogfights, not this "line the helicopter up so your gunner can nail the other guy with a TV missile" crap. These superfast jets aren't any fun to shoot each other in. I want my Japanese Zero...
Boy that's going to be fun. It's going to be a long wait though; those FH guys are sticking everything but the kitchen sink in this mod

[QUOTE=Eggplant999]Desert Combat and Forgotten Hope were free and where it was at for good gameplay.
DC was entirely too much fun...gotta love that AC130 gunship
This looks interesting and i might have to reinstall BF1942 to play this and it is indeed for BF1942
---Off the site---
"Forgotten Hope is a modification for Battlefield 1942 that concentrates on adding both a more realistic and more enjoyable playing experience than the original BF1942 and includes many new specially designed custom maps to play in."

Re: Forgotten Hope Updates
FH 2 looks awesome...What with RO coming out soon and then this, not to mention tac mod (which really does rule) I don't know how I'll give any of them enough time to become more than simply proficient at any one of them.

Dont worry Grunt. FH2 development will take at least a couple of months. Having RO will be great while waiting for it.

Re: Forgotten Hope Updates
I've een following this mod's progress. It is one of the best looking mods, and I concur with john c that they are some of teh most skilled modteams out there. Some other mods (like apocalypse now) seem very good also, but this mod would probably suit TG nicely. +It would also add a different setting then most bf2 mods.
I hope they include a big bomber with like 5 seats in it and gun turrets all over, with occupants wondering: ooh will we make it to our target area?
