Re: Forgotten Hope Updates
Is this mod going to be released within the next year? It really looks awesome, and I've been keeping a small eye on the updates, I remember hearing the interview on BF Podcast, that they don't want to give away info that may not be true, like they did with the first FH or something. If this doesn't come out soon, I'll just have to pass it up.

Re: Forgotten Hope Updates
Yeah, by the time any of these mods are released, most of the BF fanbase will be heavy into 2142. I don't think the player base will be near what it was for Desert Combat or the original FH (which benefitted from the crappiness of Vietnam).

Re: Forgotten Hope Updates
Don't be too sure bleak. I and many players I know aren't too keen on eny Unreal Tournament style game. I mostly like fps on past themes (e.g.woII). Future combat imo doesn't allow the sort of historic immersion I like. And I also feel future combat is mayb eless tactical on a micro level, but more on macro level.
I don't look forward to battlefield twothousand whatever at all, but forgotten hope...
I hope they add another battle of the bulge map, since that took place in my country. Somehow WOII speaks to me alot more then some fictional conflict. I only switched from medal of honor for the teamplay aspects of bf2.
It's like in flightsims. I love Il Sturmovik with the woII planes, set in an era where air combat had heros. Now the only possibly tense aspect of aircombat, is when pilots are captured after ejecting from a plane because of a mechanical failiure.
I'll be standing in that WOII trench, reloading my bolt action rifle as the enemy is rushing to me!

Re: Forgotten Hope Updates
Well i'll be playing bf2142 probably before this comes out, so its already probably a no go for me. Theme of the combat doens't bother me, whatever is fun.

I feel the exact same way Al, except Battle of Bulge issue
Forgotten Hope has a very strong following and no matter when they release it, the mod will be played by this dedicated group. I still play BF1942 Forgotten Hope from time to time on Wolf Server and it is almost full (64 players) whenever I join.
BF2 was a big leap from BF1942. That's the reason why majority of BF community moved to BF2. BF2142 looks nothing more than a mod for BF2. Fast-paced action players will probably switch to it but there will be a significant part of the community which will be waiting for and playing the BF2 mods (FH2, POE2) for a couple of years.

Indoor fighting should be pretty fun. Mod is looking so darn nice, just wish it had a release sometime in the next 5 years.

Re: Forgotten Hope Updates
I know, I want to really play this mod badly along with the POE mod, but damn come out already. I still think us TG'ers would be good beta testers. You guys have nice editorial skills.

Re: Forgotten Hope Updates
They seem to have a really high quality mod and Im also dissapointed they haven't had at least a limitted release. If they wait too long people will have moved onto other game engines and/or bf2142.

In fact that is what they are doing. First release will be only North Africa campaign.
I was also expecting a release by now. It has been already a year since BF2 release. They had a huge WWII collection in FH for BF1942 and started working for FH2 even before the game released.
So what is taking so long? BF2 engine and modding is not very friendly maybe? Or the fact that this is something these guys are doing in their free time. I would pay a full retail price for their mod without hesitation and I know there are many others who said the same thing.
I just wish they were a small company doing this full-time. Like those Flight Sim or Train Sim Add-on development companies.

Bingo! This is what I heard about the BF2 engine. Just heard its not very friendly and not really intuitive.
