    Operation Cleansweep map improved ?

I played operational cleansweep tonight and the jets & attack choppers were taken out.
In my opinion its way better and great fun zipping around the island on jeeps.
I used to hate this map but now I find it great fun.

    What do you guys think?

As coming from the US side of that map. It felt the same. I, myself, have never seen US win on that map on TG, though I know others have. It seemed that the US still had trouble getting on the island and getting a foot hold without being pushed off the island rather quickly.

Anyways, about the air. I didn't really notice it much, because I avoid Clean Sweep on purpose. I am sure though that not having a bomber and a mi-28 rape us all game was a lot better than before.

I concur that it is improved. This is a neat map that like Wake Island has the makings of being a real intense infantry conflict requiring sound tactics. With the thin nature of the land-mass, it is/was far too easy for aircraft rain on the parade. As mentioned above, I too would avoid clean sweep for this reason

Taking out those assets would improve things but Clean Sweep will always be one of the less enjoyable maps due to its linear nature. The more the merrier in the rotation though imo...

I think this map would be better if the MEC had a ucb. I also think on all 16p and 32p maps would be much more fun if they had ucb's for each team.

if each flag had like 5-6 light jeeps then it would be tolerable but the map is just way too big with too few transportation as it is.

What? You mean you actually need teamwork to make it fun? Transport is an important part of the battlefield in real life and having its importance recognized in a BF2 map makes it all the more fun IF you're playing with likeminded players.

What does transportation have to do with teamwork? 3 people fit in a jeep, you have 32 people on your team, there's like 2 jeeps at each flag max. You do the math. When you only have 1-2 bases Cleansweep is just boring since you have to walk 500m to get anywhere.

APC's can hold five people, and they're rarely ever filled up. Without jets, boats are also much more useable. I think it's an okay map, and worth having in the rotation.

I suppose you enjoy driving off in an APC or jeep with no passengers? Think that's fine?

If you don't see that teamwork is needed when considering transportation, well, I don't know what to tell you...

I left the transport helos in the game, I only removed the jets and attackhelos. It gives people the ability to actually use some good planning on that map since they can use boats without being bombed into oblivion time and time again. If we had different people flying the jets all the time this wouldn't be an issue, but when I see the same 4 people hog the jets and lopsidedly bomb the other team into next week, I'll yank them so it can be a halfway decent game.

I liked it. I feel bad for USMC though. Watching a blackhawk try to get over land mass is a fireworks display.

Other than that, I like the fun you have with your squad in the boats. I force everyone to load up in boats and patrol the high seas for enemy pirates!

Um, no? I don't drive off alone if people need a ride. My point with only 1-2 jeeps per flag, it's often not even enough to move one full squad, let alone most of your team if you only have 1 or 2 flags. There's only about 3 APCs in the whole map if you don't count the UCB ones (which take longer to cross the water than spawning at a land flag and walking somewhere). There should be a lot of jeeps at every flag, like 4-5. The problem is accentuated by the fact nobody takes the time to blow up their jeep when they're done with it (and why would they anyway?) so it doesn't respawn until 2+ minutes later when it auto-blows up.

I had more fun with the changes JMJ outlined than I've ever had on Cleansweep. JMO.
