    Remote Detonated Smoke

The thread title says just that.

What's the thought? Taking something like the C4 and making it smoke in some cases rather then C4.

    or

Taking a kit with smoke, and making it remote detonated?

That could definately as a "surprise" element to the game. Imagine smoking all visible entrances at once... .. hmm ...

On another note, this could simply be cordinated with the team. But the idea here crossed my mind.

Does something like this exist in real life?

Well, if we were going to do that, we could put in trip wires that set off little beepers in our head when an enemy crosses them.

Funny... this was actually what I was thinking of. In one of the BF1942 mods, there was a trip wire that set off a flare. Was pretty interesting to use to cover back alleys.

    Asch,

I don't think it's "real" but extremely probable if its not. I've not researched it, I simply though of it.

I forgot about the birds, but they can be set off from anything and are only in certian areas.

In one of the CoD2 mods we had trip wire smoke and grandes. Both of them have been used in real life.

The arty shells with smoke that kilrogg suggested would be cool. I know ive seen it in some credible war movie before, so i know its real. Would be a good substitiution in tacmod for the explosive artillery.

Im pretty sure Russian cold war assault doctrine called for a smoke shell barrage before an assault so no worries on the realism front but i have a feeling this was discussed previously. Wasnt the conclusion that it was not possible?

Wouldn't you just have it draw the smoke sprite or effect on the coordinate that the arty would hit? Or just create a new smoke grenade that would be used in teh arty and have it drop out of the sky where the commander put it.

What is that supposed to do? Make the enemy sh*t their pants?? Other than that, is there any use to it?
