Re: 7th man in the transport chopper.

Looks like the SL should press F7 when they get in so as to get a good look out of the Cock pit in order to establish the temperature of the landing zone.

Without parachutes the necessity of having a good pilot just increased 10 fold. With that said, the necessity of having a diversion/Air support (Gunship) just increased 10 fold also.

Holy crap that is the coolest thing ever. That better be in Tac mod 1.4. It might even inspire me to try flying.

Man I'm just thinking in tac mod you could request air extraction and fit the entire squad. I can imagine scanning the map looking for a place to set it down to get my squad out (or in). This is too cool.

Re: 7th man in the transport chopper.

In the initial deployment the chopper is used often.
this 7th seat will allow the C.O. to move his SLs around to a whole differnt Flag or point of attack while the squad members are off doing something else later in the game.

Also, the C.O. has an extra fast moble option to use any time on the fly if a Chopper pilot is close by.

I'd be the kind of pilot to park the chopper down on a CP and defend with the guns and be always ready to take off when a squad needs an extraction.

Like i said before, the C.O. net will become more busy to allow communication transfers.

If not a C.O. is on duty, the chopper pilot will need to look at the dialog and notice if a squad leader is requesting a pick up. This will help also. The SL could type were they need down. " 100 meters west of x flag.

    Get some!!

That is great work. I think that is an astounding change. Now we all just need to work on pilot/squad comms.

Hell, you may as well just add another 2 seats so you can have a full chopper crew (pilot, 2 gunners) flying around + a full assault squad ready to cause chaos. Ideally the crew should be medic, support, & engineer to best supplement the transported squad. MMMM flying battle fortress lol

Yeah, I hope that when this is implemented it is actually used. I think this might have been very useful in a situation like the Daqing scrim again GC where two squads were assigned to capture East Oilfields. The first squad was given the Black Hawk so that they could get to the destination quickly and I was leading the second/backup squad who was to take a remaining jeep there. The last available jeep was a Humvee on the other side of the US Town. By the time I ran to the jeep and drove the long route to East Oilfields, to hopefully avoid getting bombed, our squad probably arrived about four times later than the first squad. I think it could have been much more effective if a dedicated Black Hawk pilot took the first squad to the destination, dropped them off, and while that squad started a long range distraction to draw the defenders to one side and out of the CP the pilot returned to base, picked up the second squad, and then dropped them off on the opposite side of the CP where they could attack the weak side, capture the CP, and then both squads could sandwich and eliminate the remaining defenders. Something like that.

I've been out of the loop for a while, did this actually get done? If this is working then I'm all about getting back in the game.

The implementation is done and it will be in the Tac Mod 1.4 release, which will probably be released right after the BF2 1.4 patch.

    WOO!

I am soooo looking forward to this. I've always wanted the oppurtunity to be a BH Ferry pilot. I'm guessing we have it working for the MEC/PLA chopper as well?
