Tacmod allow SLs direct comm via commander channel

I know tacmod developement is halted right now and possibly indefinitely, but in case there might be other editions, i'd like to post my idea.

Since there are often small games without a co, it would be very handy to allow the SL's to communicate with eachother directly via the commander channel. The co could still talk as normal, but SL's would hear everything the other SLs say if there is a co.

I reckon this might be pretty simple to mod in, and very useful.

    Cheers.

Several mods have wanted to do this, however the VoIP code is imbedded and not accessible to mods. We're stuck with the way VoIP exists today.

Re: Tacmod allow SLs direct comm via commander channel

    I thought so.

What is wrong with having a CO in small games.

Agree not to use the zoom

They make the calls on what is going down.

They act as the teams radio man.

    Role play.

Most squads in real life are made of 8-10 warriors.

If your team has two 6 man squads the CO can be sort of the squad leader. Bottomline, they make the calls, but they see a lot of action also.

squad one would be his/her fire team alpha,

and squad two can be his fire team bravo.

The rule that the CO should not see any action and focus on commanding should be waved on small games. Especially with TacMod were the mature level is pretty high.

The cool thing about this is that as the CO you do not need to worry about your (large) squad spawning on you. You can lead the charge, how tight is that?

In conclusion, the CO position in the small tac mod games should be filled a lot. It is just that players do not see the importance for it.

I believe, a good tactical squad leader should take this spot early in the game. As in after a 6 man squad starts the 7 person goes CO if they are comfortable with it.

I have not played the mod since the Tac Mod scrim in the summer, but you guys are making me want to play it more.

This way of playing will make the actual squad leaders seem like radio guys and the assistant squad leader. again, they are part of a larger squad.

    So in conclusion
    13 man squad.

1 Squad leader (actually the CO)
2 fire team leaders (actually the squad leaders)
    10 squad members.

This can also work well with two, four man squads, and one CO.

This will allow the team to have a chain of command but more functional.

At this pace, I do not think i can hold out for Armed Assault come this early spring.

    Use the <br> often enough?

If there was a way to do it, then great, but it seems EA/DICE has hardcoded a few things into the game that hurts modding.

    ??? what is that.

Another option is having an admin creat two team speak channels in the teamspeak.
    ONe USA
    one bad guys

The honor system will need to be used, but again the players who have teamspeak tend to be more mature, plus the crowed who play the mod tend to be mature, so that is good.

For clarification.... the rule isn't that the CO cannot see any action. The rule is that the CO needs to make COing their primary duty. With less assets to control and / or being on a small team (e.g. 12 players) the CO can still perform all of their CO duties and participate in the battle.
