You see a lot of snipers for two reasons:

a. Its a favorite kit for a lot of people. A lot of people really love role playing that kit...doesn't matter what mod or game your playing...there is always going to be a big draw to this style of play. See movies like Enemy at the Gates or Shooter for why people get into this style of role playing. Sure a lot of snipers are a waste of time but the kit does have its place in the battlefield series.

b. Players can not find a squad with teamwork and since they know they can't get anything done without teamwork on a server that is famous for it a lot of them will result to sniping since they are forced to lonewolf.

So at the end of the day it all comes back to taking leadership roles. Now the easy thing to do is point fingers in my direction based on a screenshot that just happens to be one of the only times in the last month where I got a chance to form a full 12th squad. Lord knows I do my share when it comes to this issue...other 12th and a lot of 5th do good work too...some of you new guys need to start stepping up and taking charge. We have had a major loss of the oldschool players over the last couple months. Despite this the gameplay has still been very good...not as intense but its not like a full squad of snipers is a regular occurance. I have seen some nice new regular SLers crop up...guys like Saitcho, BillbadMule, shotcha, Gunnie etc. Thing is anyone here can develop into a solid SL and easily improve the quality of play on the server by making the effort to improve play instead of complaining about it. The day I don't have to SL most nights will be the day I can start getting back into a role I enjoy...yes....sniping. Oh man would I love to put the fear back into that kit....I don't care what some people think...those that play that kit correctly and with the team in mind can do great things for their team just like any other kit. If you were around TG during the vanilla days you know that to be true.
