Every now and then this subject gets brought up, but the answer is always the same. It's either blind luck or just difference in skill/experience. Certain maps there are well used paths or cover points. If you played a map many times and know where the vantage points are for a particular area, it is very easy to target those vantage points at long range. Also, the team itself should never be under estimated. Especially when I have a Support gun, if I see a spot from a teammate I will move my cross hair in that direction until I get a name tag and fire, never actually seeing the enemy. Thanks to my teammate that took the time to spot I get an easy kill and usually don't draw return fire.

No one is going to hang out in the UCB with the intention of going 57-1, that's plain silly. Undead, I think you have received good advice so far. Mostly it's map knowledge applied over experience of what people "tend" to do + travelling with a squad who complement one another. I would watch the BFR's to see if you can figure out tips and tendencies.

I find that a factor that almost determines if my squad is going to succeed or fail is their ability to spot the enemy and know WHEN/IF to take a shot. Surprise is of utmost importance.

I found POE to be very frustrating when I first started playing. It took me a while to learn that the techniques that are effective in Vanilla/SF do not work very well in POE.

Some of the maps do tend to become sniper fests, these are probably the situations that prompted the original poster to write.

If PoE somehow limited the sniper class to a few slots per team... GOD, this game would be magical.

As it is, playing against a 30 man team where 10 - 12 players are sniping with that semi-auto rifle... Gah. So disappointing that players will sacrifice their team's chance at winning just so they can play their "I AM TEH SN1P3R!!1" game-within-a-game.

    I remember that night.

It wasn't the fact that we were constantly getting shot by Mantis, it was we originally thought we were getting fired from your DoD. That being said, we did attempt to flank around and must have caught you at the same time trying to get out of your UCB. Please don't take what the others have said to heart. You have to understand our frustration when we were constantly getting mowed down by an SVD from crazy distances. I am not a regular PoE player and don't know all the cool uber secret hiding spots are at, so one must assume that something is going on. It is obvious that I have alot to learn about PoE and its map layouts. I guess I will just stick to PR

Snipers are annoying at best. There are only a handful of players who are actually affective snipers to fear, so in general snipers are just easy kills. The shots are loud and easy to trace back to the source. They are too busy scoped in to have good vision of the battlefield and you walk up and shoot them in teh back of the head execution style.

Absolutely true. Many people tend to run until battles are found. But if you wait and listen every now and then, you can hear shots being fired and more importantly footsteps coming closer/more remote. Wear headsets and those sneak up kills will multiply for sure...

My orders ususally involve attacking or holding a flag, not hunting snipers.

I really don't mind the snipers, as long as ff stays on.

So en route to a flag you've never stopped to admire the 1337 sniper a few feet from teh beaten path so engrossed in his quarry that he has fired a full magazine and not registered a kill. Only he successfully announced his position not just by firing so much, but standing for improved accuracy and concealment in the short grass. You have never made the simple detour to put this sad creature out of his misery?

I know the answer, pick me!!!

If I could get that oh-so-satisfying "tink" sound effect as a ringtone, I would call myself all day long.

Hahahaha, classic to say that we haven't all done it would be a lie. Its just too rewarding a feeling. Especially if your entire squad is watching you sneak up on him. The outburst of laughter after the insertion of the Expeditionary is priceless.
Multiplied if there is a grouping.

lol, yeah I'll take the easy kill. In reality It would probably be better for the team to leave him there. Because after he burns up his ammo (and I'm sure he's laid out his claymores) hell spend the rest of the round trying to find an ammo pack or supply crate. Killing him just gives him more bullets.

On a similar note, why does (almost) everyone feel compelled to blow up abandoned enemy vehicles? It just gives the enemy a fresh vehicle at one of their bases. The longer the enemy stands around their base waiting for a vehicle to spawn, the less damage they can do.

They most likely blow up abandoned enemy vehicles while I'm on the server playing on the enemy team, because they know that the sooner that vehicle respawns, the sooner I'll get into it, somehow managing to use it to bring myself to an explosive, fiery death, most often accidentally taking poor, helpless, unknowing teammates who still get into a vehicle with me, like ANGELofDEATH and corporate, with me. It's like giving a monkey a shotgun, really.

Back in BF 1942, I would accidentally flip a battleship over within 10 seconds of me taking the controls, I am not ****ting you. I suck THAT bad. Holy crap!
