Re: Map rotation
My opinion about the map rotation system is: Id rather play unbalanced,or not up to the TG standards maps from time to time, than play the same old maps over and over again. I can live with imperfect map that bring something new. How about a vanilla BF2 map night from time to time, something to keep the players around until the new release.

Re: Map rotation
I'm curious... having never played anything vanilla, what is so horrible about the sidewalk?

Re: Map rotation
Basically, you must jump to walk over it, cross it, etc. Since the sidewalks run through so much of the map, this makes everyone a bunnyhopper out of necessity.

Re: Map rotation
So its like the railroad track on Camp Gibraltar in BF2142. The stupid game gets stuck on them instead of simply walking over them.

Re: Map rotation
Funny thing is, you'd think the developers would have saw this as a detractor when testing the game... oh, i forgot, its DICE we're talking about... nevermind.

Re: Map rotation
Draeh.. We are talking about the PoE mod map "Red Dawn", it was not done by DICE. If you want to check out what we mean, you can start a local server on your own rig to see the map. PM if you need help.
And yes we tried to get them fixed.

Re: Map rotation
I think the thing to remember too was that Red Dawn is not an "official" PoE map either. It was part of a map packing contest that they sponsored, yes, but as far I understood it, it was just a "fun bit" they did and is not part of the official rotation. Hence, it was perhaps not as thoroughly tested as most PoE maps are and we get odd issues like the sidewalks that crop up on some of them or too many flags on others for instance. The map-pack maps are probably considered WIP at best.

Re: Map rotation
i didn't know that about red dawn.
Would the vanilla maps still work with poe 1.8? or would they have to be reworked to handle the changes?
Greasy, i'm still wondering about the AT rocket range (and yeah, the do work close up :P ) do yours actually fly to your view distance? I was trying some distance shots on a flag and it seems 150 meters is as far as i can get one to go.
