Map rotation
I’m curious to know what the current map rotation is. I’ve been seeing the same handful of maps each time I get online and while I don’t get on for long stretches of time each day, I would expect to have played Fallen and Orel at some point during the week.

Re: Map rotation
I always enjoyed the old Infantry map followed by an armor map rotation. I know there are a ton of maps currently in the rotation, I have just had the (bad) luck of joining during the same spot in the rotation and have played seemingly the same maps (Berezan, Spies, Guardian). I imagine it's 2 combined arms maps in a row to make it to an infantry map now. Although I do feel sorry for the saps who have to defend 32 Lutsk followed by switching sides to defend Zyhtomyr 32.

Re: Map rotation
I must agree, it feels that Orel/Fallen are being faded out from the rotation. Being the infantry buff as I am, I believe that Orel is probably one of the best maps out there. Fallen is pretty fun too. Lately I have noticed that it seems that the rotation have tigthened a bit (less maps, with emphasis on certain maps, i.e. Zhytomyr and Berezen Island). Now, I have nothing against those maps, but have the rotation intentionally eliminated certain maps (Op Acorn, Carp Mtns etc)?
Ps. I fully understand that the server appeals to all gamers (armor, air & infantry buffs), so by no means am I lobbying for infantry maps only.......{but it would be nice...

Re: Map rotation
Operation Acorn and Carpathian ARE infantry maps. Although there are a couple vehicles in there, they really aren't effective, the flags are just a little more spread out is all.

Re: Map rotation
My experience with First Snow has been that everyone tends to Zerg to the center flag, leaving the other flags unattended. It really makes the map hard to enjoy for folks such as me who like to see teamwork and sound tactics prevail. It's gotten bad enough most nights, but personally, my tolerance for maps that encourage Zerg behavior like this has gotten pretty low and I don't miss First Snow. That and the maps where more than half of both teams wind up in sniper-fests to the detriment of adequate flag assault/defense teams. It just becomes such a stagnant game at that point. Those two things really get my goat and I usually end up walking - I have better ways to waste my time.
Like others, maps that I would like to see more of are Fallen, Orel, Carpathian, but also include Dnister, and either Highway to Hell or Guardian. Sambir is a toss-up from being a real pain to being pretty fun. Also, whatever happened to Rivne? Haven't seen that one in ages.

Re: Map rotation
Rivne picked up the lag bug but is fixed for this next patch. I believe the mapper will tell you that some grass that went unused led to the lag and I don't believe he was referring to the patch in the Southeast corner.

Re: Map rotation
I've included the current rotation below, but it's kind of meaningless: the rotation rarely plays straight through on it's own. Instead, we manage map selection manually to best suit the server - adjusting according to player counts, time of night (is population growing or shrinking), etc. We also force different size maps where appropriate: the auto-sizer picks the next map based on the population of the previous map - if the population is growing or shrinking, you'll end up w/ the wrong size on the next map. Also - some 32p maps play like 64 and some 16p maps work well w/ 32 players.

Re: Map rotation
The Vanilla maps are not in the levels folder of the current build. Even though they are PoEized they are not very balanced, which is why the TG server only played Karkand and Oilfields.. and Karkand always ends up a snipe fest across the river.
IMO, Red Dawn was never a balanced map, It looks beautiful.. But just is not playable... and IMO the whole sidewalk thing is a killer.. Bunnies belong in magazines.[TG-19th]theeANGELofDEATH(Steam/Origin)
