Re: Snake Eyes: How to play as USMC
We followed every move marker you gave us as a CO. Sorry we didn't hear your initial instructions as there were a lot of people talking in teamspeak and after awhile you tune out all the random chatter. You have to use the move markers as a CO.

Re: Snake Eyes: How to play as USMC
The thing is that the CO can't use the move marker until he spawns in. So typing it out and chatting it out several times pre-start are the most he can do. As soon as the round hits for this map he should start looking for Arty targets to break open a path at the attack point (IMO).
Is there a way to give every squad the same command at once? When there are 6 or more squads it starts getting to be a hassle to assign them all to the same beachhead."Divide and rule, a sound motto. Unite and lead, a better one." -Goethe

I was initially going to say no that you have to assign them all separately but that may not be true. There is a way where you can select multiple squads for voice chat (2 at the same time or 3). You may be able to do the same with assigning squads. Select all the squads and then give them an order on the map. I have never tried it.

I will try that next time. Still no way to fix the whole pre-round ordering though

Re: Snake Eyes: How to play as USMC
Well after last night I still stand by my prediction that this map could end up with a reputation that makes people press the ESC button when they see it load. After repeatedly trying to get ashore the US didn't even get close to turning a flag and Mantis changed the map mid game.
I'm sure there will be people that will point out that the landing wasn't executed properly, and I won't disagree, it was a comedy of errors in the squad I was in and we were following the SLs orders quite well. The one time our squad did penetrate the beach head we all got wiped out by our own arty!
I would rather see a "free" or "easy" landing than wait 5 minutes while all our boats sit empty on the beach. Then when eventually given the order to spawn on the SL die so quickly you don't even have time to see your smoke grenade go off!

The admin team is investigating some server-side mods we can make to improve the situation (adding more vehicles for US, etc)... stay tuned

Re: Snake Eyes: How to play as USMC
My squad managed a cap last night on the beach.
Once we made that cap things were kind of crazy trying to keep everyone revived.
It took driving the amphibious assault vehicle up to the flag, but, I'm a bit surprised we didn't take an AT missile. There was a small squad of folks on the beach and (I'm guessing) that they were keeping folks busy when we drove on past.
Anyone d/l the battlerecorder file for that map?
SSA out.

Re: Snake Eyes: How to play as USMC
I would recommend that the Ukrainian APC be changed so that it is not amphibious. It easily kills any thing swiming in the water. And would reduce the issue of it attacking the destroyer.
Short rant: No US navy planner would ever send a single destroyer to land on a contested beach where the odds were 1:1. Its just plain silly. Ther would be an ESG or CSG over the horizen for support. The Marine plan on something like this would be to fly right over the beach to the objective. Thats why they have the MV-22 Osprey. Its called Ship to Objective Manuver (STOM)
So I would suggest that the addition of a little bird and black hawk would really change this map for the better. A little more realistic and give the US a fighting chance.
Of course realism would mean about 6 cobras supporting the beach landing. And then we would have a whole different problem.

Re: Snake Eyes: How to play as USMC
Ok.....I can see both sides' problems here. But if everything's fair game on shore, then the US needs to have to defend its arty as well. It's damned annoying to be waiting on the US players to get to the beach, and at the last second, the arty kills 2-3 entire squads. As it is, whoever gets in the arty on the ship is consistently the highest scoring player on the map, and with no deaths to boot. Not a great contributor to overall gameplay, I think.

The US has to defend its arty... from the TLAM.
The arty having the most kills with least deaths is inevitable. I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with it if they are concerned about the team and not with having the best K/D.

Re: Snake Eyes: How to play as USMC
I see the arty as no different than firing a piece of mobile arty out of a UCB. It's the same thing.
If you can't attack one, why can you attack the other?
And as to the most kills/least deaths thing, maybe it's just me. I can't ever seem to be able to get to the arty. At least with any other vehicle/equipment, sooner or later, you have to share. It definitely takes the fun out of the game, that's for sure.
