Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Not many TG'ers at least in house guys actually use sniper kits alot. I think at least.

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
When I originally started playing on the server, I remember that seasoned TG members used to regularly have a squad named "Learn TG" on the server. Now, I am no super player, but I learned alot and I enjoyed playing in those squads. I would love to hop in them every once in a while now because I have enough knowledge to help the new guys along, but since I have recently had a ball and chain locked around my leg, my playing time lately is few and far between and I am a bit rusty.
I have noticed that Mantis does run these squads every once in a while, but it would be nice to have a couple of other TG'ers do it. I personally am not experienced enough at SL'ing to do it, but I would be willing to help.
Finally, you could have a squad and split it in two like used to happen all the time sending less experienced squad members with TG'ers to help them learn tactics visually...it was a lot of fun to have these split squads operating as long as the SL was not too serious. TG John used to drop out of the game all the time when we would start joking around a bit...

I am the best squad leader ever... every time I put together a squad to defend our team's uncap, we never lose it to the enemy. Not once. OMG I'm awesome!!!1!1!

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Whiskey is absolutely correct. New faces have given way to new opportunities. We were playing Operation Acorn this evening, (Which I hate), but population was low, and there were quite a few 1-man squads. I created a "Defense!" squad, and asked people to join. People did, and I soon had a full squad of people I have never seen before except for Dirty Berd. We then proceeded to do a coordinated defense of two separate points. Which is tough. All they needed was organization and encouragement. Luckyshot took one for the team and stepped in to CO and coordinate. This helped even more. A lot of these players want the magic, they just don't know it yet. Give them attainable goals, show them how, set an example.

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
I might as well add my 2¢ . Actually about 6¢.
1.The other night I was in a squad as a medic, a TG member was explaining that medics need to do their job. I was a medic. I was in a tight spot, where you come out of a corner and go for the revive. I was taking fire, but who knows from where. This specific TG member was saying"medics need to do their jobs" "take out the target first" on and on, getting ticked off, not even the squad leader. We are all on the same team here and some of us are not as good as others. So when you get revived, then shot again, how in the heck are we suppose to know where the fire comes from. Get up, run like hell & find cover, then spot the baddie.75% of the time I revive first and then look for the gunman. I bump and run. I am a medic. Fighting is secondary in my opinion. I often trail behind the squad to maintain that the medic can do what they are suppose to. I want to keep the bleed from happening. Please do not get all bent out of shape when I am doing my job. I try to kill just as many as I can, in fact why are you dead in the first place for you to even need a bump to get up. I just found this sort of secondary squad leading frustrated me a bit and I will definitely play with this person again, I just found that all the "2 squad leader talk" was a bit much.
2.Lucky was SL and he was giving specific orders, easy ones at that. Do not fly, do not spawn. Then this kid spawned, jumped in a chopper and was like "I have the chopper". I am sure it was frustrating, but I suppose there are peeps like this everywhere. I think it is vitally important that we do the best we can do as a squad and the others will follow in behind. We did not get far in the map as a squad, but we had a great time, because we were for the most part in line, doing the best we could do "as a squad." I chose not to Sl as much, because I am still learning from others. I suggest a bit of encouragement from the squad when playing when you have a "rambo" in your squad to follow orders and success is most likely.
3.Often times, I like to play with certain people, other TG members, people I want to get to know better. Sometimes, I blink and all the squads are full. Like the other night, when we were playing the new map snake eyes, I was in a squad by myself, because I missed out because I blinked and it was Arty with 5, and 2 other squads with 6. I was by my lonesome. I jumped int he arty and was artying the first flag that was taken. Lo and behold, I get on the movie as the jack-knife in the arty at the back base not only getting blown up, but also the one that loses the base, I think corporate was there too? lol. So look for me in the video of a textbook example of what not to do after one shot of an RPG hists you. I will be the one that is blown up, with my face melted to the inside of the tank.
I think each time I play, I learn something new. I think some veteran TG members can be a little more helpful, but overall, I play here for the brotherhood, that leadership, the fun, the squad work, but most of all as a functioning community that encourages good teamwork and a option to play the game how it is suppose to be played. Kudos, yes I used that word, to everyone wearing TG tags that I have come in contact with. You make it all the better for me. Keep on keeping on.

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
I'll add my comments for what it is worth,
I have not been on the server in awhile, I'm going to jump on tonight and see how things are, i know the other night when I came on things seemed alright.
I think another aspect is effective voice communication and enemy spotting. Spot before you shoot, i've tried to tell this to people in squads and although a lot of the time its understood but sometimes guys just randomly fire where they see movement, a positive identification of an enemy before you shoot helps your teammates in case you go down.
Now sniping,
To me, if your sniping your lone wolfing. This should not be tolerated, there have been times where me and a member or two of my squad would have to go focus on eliminating a sniper. Sure hunting and knifing is fun, but where does this add to the tactical element?
I've not played on the server for quite some time as i've been addicted to the tactical gamer COD4 server and some other tactical servers in COD4 but I do miss my squad based play in POE and with the new release will jump on for some good classic squad based play. I think all it takes is the right people playing as I've had some great games on the server and i've had bad games, however, the good games are more frequent.

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
While I agree, my original comment was a little tongue in cheek. As in other discussions, I can count on 1 hand the players I have witnessed to be effective team players and use the sniper kit with regularity. Sniper is a very situational kit and can have a great impact in those situations.
Sometimes it is frustrating to see people who don't have the experience make noob mistakes, however so many times you see people completely ignore a suggestion like smoke or kill before revive. The reason is that if your death timer is 30 secs, you get revived with 2 secs left, then immediately killed again, then revived with 10 secs left, then killed again, you've just spent the last minute+ dead when the death timer is only 30 secs. Very annoying. If you're a medic and have no smoke and don't have a clue where the enemy is at, evaluate the situation. If the person you are trying to revive is in your squad, ask them if they want you to try. I know many times people are screaming "Don't Revive me!" and medics in there squad ignore that. I personally will farm kills all day from medics reviving a fallen comrade. One day it reached near comical proportions 6 or 7 kills on the same guy about 20 secs apart as the medic was under the impression that being sneaky was better than shooting at me or using smoke.
Clueless snipers and medics are probably my biggest pet peeve. I can work with idiotic tactics. It's easy to point people in the right direction in game, it's easier to explain the fine points of good play on the forums. Hopefully the population will stay high and we can bring back password nights and get a few more people to the forums. I heart password nights.|TG-12th| tHa_KhAn

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Lol, I don't loathe sniper I just lothe their tendency to move far away from the flag to get a better angle, meaning they are not with us, what use are they to me then. Ohter than to kill, I prefer supporting kits.
And that is true some ppl understand but don't listen, every moment is different but chances are 60% of the time dead men are covered by opfor. Smoke first or Kill first should be mantra!

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Interesting idea, I think you have something here. On Pr usually I'll have to kick someone, and they will join the "trash" squad. On PR there is always a squad with no teamwork where all the pubbies meet to go snipe. If we could get rid of the people that lead and join those squads, it would change the game.
