Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Yar. I'm all for teamwork, but people need to make sure they're in the spirit to promote teamwork beyond a group of people moving together to objectives. Complaining about another squaddie's work isn't the best way to promote cohesion. Example: if you complain about someone not using smoke on your revive, forgetting they used their 2 smoke grenades on your 2 previous revives, all you're going to do is make your medic angers. For some reason unless you're Bom, yelling at people and telling them how to play their role can lead to the break down of squad cohesion pretty quick.
Robo's med packs heal tanks.

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Also note that if you already popped 2 smokes or 1 ask for Ammo to replenish your smokes!
I know it's knitpicking but some ppl might not have thought about it.
Also reminding ppl to smoke before rezing can help ppl get into the habit of doing it, I know it helped me.
I know for me personally, I don't do the reassuring instruction bit well, I am more about telling you what to do and hope you do it well. I might be a gripe but when ppl are following my instructions we generally never fail our objectives. BTW thanks for your help on Berezan last night Penguineer, Yaargggh!! Mantis if your reading this, you should ban yourself from the TLAM, just for my sake, please.

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Great games last night!! Of the 5 maps I played last night, I only had one where there were more tagged TG players than pubs. Every round had great teamwork! IMO, the State of the Teamplay is very strong!

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
I agree. I think part of it is threads like these and part of it is more team work oriented players are coming out to support the mod. The more this happens, the more new people will pick it up and be stronger team players which will continue to make things fun for us all.

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
I also agree, threads like these keep the spirit alive and as such constant updates to this thread helps to bolster lapse in teamwork by being a constant reminder of what is happening on the server/servers.
On a side note its nice to See the devs, Greasy, Illicit, DrunkenPirate on nightly and mixing it up with pubbies and TGers alike. You guys have made a superb contribution to this community and I thank you all on behalf of all who have and will enjoy this mod over it's lifetime. Kudos

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Or destroy them.
The other day we were on a hill pretty far away from everything with one other squad mate (I don't recall who) when robo tossed some mines where we were laying, for fun. No less then 15 seconds later a helicopter comes flying down smack into the mines killing all three of us.
I swear, they are like magnets. The pilot just couldn't resist them.

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Great thread...nice to see the TG spirit going strong...I'm a POE player from way back. New patch is looking good so you'll see me on soon.
Anyway...Gator's got good points here on snipers...It all comes down to comms...if the sniper is supporting the squad by using his mic and not just kill hunting than you've got a true asset. Can't say I see it much. I'm not a very good sniper but that's my approach.|TG-1st|Grunt

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
I see squad level team play getting better each night. I think the next area to focus on is communication with other squads to make full team play even better. Tonight on Kerch for example, the USMC squad leaders were calling out which points they were going for and then they had my chopper squad fly them in. It was a great way to coordinate our team and was very effective at the start of our round. After that we lost a little bit of that coordination and then lost the round.

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Squad coordination like that is really only doable if you have a CO. Otherwise it takes very experienced SL's who are familiar with the surrounding SL's and that's not as likely to happen on a given night.

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
I've noticed this also and agree. Even if the SL names the squad the name of the objective point they often get frustrated and go elsewhere. I've also seen CO's take squads off defense to go get a flag we don't need. I think some people don't truly understand the bleed sometimes.

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
The game needs a squad leader channel...to suit our sometimes sans-CO style of play.
