Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Thanks for the CO arty coordinates on snake eyes Magonushi.
I think that the squad sneaking into the North side was the real key, but maybe all the arty at the beach caused them to think that was our landing point. Either way well done. |

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Thanks to you too, Namey, except for that one stray shell on my noggin, you were pretty spot on, and helped us gain and hold the flags needed to win the round.

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Yeah, he and Magonushi had a healthy conversation in our Choppers squad for UKR on Sambir last night, it was like an interview with Greasy_Mullet
Very interesting to hear the up and coming trials of a map designer. And we flowed well as a combined chopper squad with, the Sokol and Hind under one COMM. AA didn't have much of an impact on us as it usually does on Sambir. Well done guys, Mag and Greasy. I do wish some ppl would at the very least contribute more than to just join a chopper squad and jump into a tank if the chopper is taken, having at least one Engineer in each helo could have drastically improved our effectiveness. Take that in mind the next time you see a UKR chopper squad with pilots and gunner already there.

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Just want to throw out a big thanks to robocop for his excellent wrenching duty and Dozer body guarding on Kerch last night. We had the most of the center of the map locked down until some jerks showed up with bigger rockets and started one shotting us.
Who would have thought that a parking garage would be a good place for a car? Luckily there was plenty of action at the disco so I don't think he got to bored. |

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
I want to thank all the folk I played with last night. I was having a very bad day before I logged in on 12/13 at ~10:30pm EST. That was the end of the bad day.
On Kerch we held City Hall. Used the Arty for the first time on Snake Eyes. It was a lot of fun raining down death upon the beach dwellers. Even if we didn't gain landfall, I had fun learning the artillery. Thanks to Whiskey's guide, it went pretty well. Ran around the street of Dnister City with my shock paddles at the ready in a close loss. Traded Statue back and forth on Odessa. Knocked aircraft out of the sky on Berezan while hiding from the TLAM. Was having fun on Fallen before my ISP decided to KO me for the night. I consistently had a great time with all you guys around me. Thanks for saving my dreary day! ![]()

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
Ok so I was playing for the last 2 nights and its been missing some of the TG regular SL's well to say its been a mess, some of you regular SM's are gonna have to start SL'ing to pick up the slack and teach some rules to these guys.
Favorite quote, hatredsoul "Ok guys enough about the squads already", Moregooder "Do you have a problem with squads?" I didn't see the reply to that but it must have been hilarious. Plus the fact that he was told numerous times to close out his 1-2 man squad and join up with a 4 man unit, which he did not. At one point I thought that we would lose the round that we had fought so hard and successfully to dominate. No one would attack another flag but York's squad. Apparently no one realized that if we lost the flag we were on we would have been capped out. BTW, is there a way to know if VOIP is enabled by a squad member? I have been getting frustrated by non-responsive SM's. This is partially my fault as my mic is really low to most people. On another topic, with the greatest of respect and admiration in mind, I have realized that it's getting to the point where you can't fire a heap round in POE without hitting a member of the 5th nowadays They are like Hydra!

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
So your like the plague
, not sure thats how Lucky would see it.![]() Anywho, I was playing a 16 player round of Berezan about 12-1 am last night and noticed something on a small scale that has been bugging me in large maps for a while now. What I am talking about is the Lemming Squad-mates Dilemma. People in my squads seem to just follow behind my every step and never move in front unless repeatedly told to. This wouldn't bother me much but when there is an attack order and I want to stay off a hot flag, heading into the fray is just about as bad as sitting with 5 SM's taking potshots at the flag. Also there is this need for some SM's to immediately vacate the flag area by a large distance as soon as a flag is capped. Usually these are the ones that go sniper too. Though snipers bother me much less now as they change their kits pretty quick when told to. I know all these are common old issues that never die but its whats been coming up recently and I thought that someone might read this and try to be proactive. Another thing that I can't quite understand, is why o why on maps like Kerch where the flag is enclosed do squads try to be everywhere to cover it. There are only 2 real ways to flip the flag at keep, coming from the first/sewer floor or coming from the third floor. Why does anyone need to go outside? Choppers can't cap the flag, but you can shoot them from the third floor. Sewer rats usually get caught in the first floor rat trap and anyone smart enough to use the stairway to the third floor usually comes alone and usually is spotted on the narrow stairway in advance of an effective entry. Having your squad in -between 2nd and 3rd with C4, Ammo and Med-Packs around is like a brick wall against multiple attackers.Just wanted to know your opinions on these topics ![]()

Re: State of the Teamplay Address
This is true. There IS however an M and E. And problem players usually have those two letters in mind.
Quote:
<change of subject, directed to no-one in particular but the "reader"> Even after joining the Irregulars, following orders all the time was hard for me. I'm an out-of-the-box thinker, often impulsive, and have an attention deficit. It took me a while to understand that following the orders and being cohesive with my squad is more important than doing my own thing. When you see something that needs to be done that will help the team, you need to pause and think: if it requires that you go solo, or not follow orders, it's the wrong thing to do. It shows others that you don't need to follow the rules if you don't feel like it. It demonstrates that your real motives are to play with a squad only as long as it's goals serve your own interests. If those interests diverge, and you go with what you want, you're acting as an individual, not a member of the community, not as a member of my team, not as a member of my squad. You can always ask an SL if you can go sniper, or grab armor, or cap a flag that's on your way to the move marker! You can always make suggestions, but if they say "no, I'd rather have you do x", then just do it. It's the principles of the TG Way that should have precedence, because this is what will continue to make our servers great places to play. The small individual victories we achieve, acting as individuals--on one puny map or an entire afternoon of maps--does not offset the damage done to people's perception of who we are as TG members. If we talk the talk, we must walk the walk, as best we can. When we fail, we should acknowledge it, make amends if appropriate, and move on. When I was first at TG, I used to go off to do what I thought was best, and very often I would be right. I'd show up just in time to save a flag or lay a mine right before a tank would come along, like I figured. Even though I was right about the situation, I was wrong about my priorities. I was going for the quick and easy way to feel good about myself. I wanted to show everyone I knew what I was doing. By my actions, I was saying, "Hey, it's OK I did my own thing--it helped the team! I just happened to know better than my squadleader what the best thing to do was." This is not TG. This is not teamplay. This is going for a short-term momentary glow of self-satisfaction under the guise of teamwork. It shows everyone you're not truly serious about the TG philosophy, it's just something you spout because it's a cool place to play. I've seen people get away with this kind of facade for months and months, even longer, before the pattern is finally noticed. What this attitude does is erode at the framework of what the TG community is built on. We are not self-interest maximizers. We are united in a belief that by making sure everyone is sharing the commons of our public servers in a fair way, everyone has an equal opportunity to enjoy the commons, and therefore we can all enjoy it together as a community. There are always a few who break rules to gain extra enjoyment for themselves while using the property. This behavior will degrade the commons for all who use it. Thus the entire community must share the cost of some people's deviance from the rules. To avoid this, the rules are enforced by those dedicated to protecting the commons. If they are not, self-interest maximization becomes widespread, and the commons soon becomes no longer enjoyable. This is the problem known as the tragedy of the commons. We will defend our community from this tragedy; to act as a self-interest maximizer is an open declaration that you are a threat to the enjoyment of the commons and the community that uses it. We work hard to make this a good place to be, both in-game and in the forums. If some pipsqueak like me feels this strongly, how do you think those who have been here for years and years feel? Yo, drop me a West Coast beat, it's like this: Yo, you in da hood, the block we roam? I think it best you do not test we're checkin' colors, holdin' chrome. My homeys iz down like dat, we rack, clack-a-lack, den quickly clique up rollin' out da crew ta hit-up, you see my window down, best hit Z, clown you bout t'get lit-up. Word.
