This is a BF2 issue and this PoE inherits it. The only confirmed fix we have so far is to turn off your second processor once you launcher the game for BF2. I am in the process of testing a fix from AMD which addresses this issue via software.
You can try to set the affinity of the BF2.EXE process to one CPU core. Apparently the switching between CPUs that the OS does can lead to problems. the Sysinternals process explorer allows you to do this or the startup options somehow...

There is also a processor driver that you can download from AMD that is supposed to have something to do with this.
