Increased Lag?
I don't know if it just me on peak hours on the server, but it seems whenever the server reaches capacity, I get random connection problems for about 3-5 seconds, or whenever the connection times-out and get disconnected. I remember a couple nights ago that 64 Odessa had major lag, and ever since that happened, the lag spikes started rearing its ugly head.
I had mentioned it to Mantis tonight, but we were both flying and I didn't catch everything that he had said about it. Oops.-F-

Re: Increased Lag?
No issues on my end was my response. To be clear...you are referring to connection lag correct?

Yeah the "There is a problem with your connection" doom message, proceeded by death by chopper wreckage or knife by IllicitFilms.

Re: Increased Lag?
I have been getting some dirty rotten lag.
Don't remember that happening before when the server was full.

Re: Increased Lag?
Thursday evening I was lagging really bad on Dnister when it was full. Someone in my squad mentioned his ping was over 200ms. When I looked for myself, all of the pings were very high. I usually get 30ms and I was at 145ms. It only happened for a minute then went back to normal.

Re: Increased Lag?
This release has been playing pretty muddy for me. In the past, it usually corrects after I play the maps a few times. I do get some lag spikes like the others stated but it just generally seems to run slow. Unfortunately it is probably a sign of my aging CPU processing speed, but the last release ran fine. I have been going through the usual driver updates, etc, but it still seems like I am running through jello. I have added so many mods on and off Bf2 over the last few years that I am considering a complete reinstall, but I am leaving that for the last possible resort.

Re: Increased Lag?
It was pretty laggy this afternoon. I don't know if it was my connection or what but it certainly isn't system lag. I had to quit in frustration as every couple minutes I found myself crashing into trees and stuff.

Re: Increased Lag?
I really dont understand why there seems to be new lag. I recall similar conversations when our last release came out as well. We spent a good deal of time going through our maps and looking for ways to optimize them. Some maps still do need some more optimization such as Odessa and Yalta but overall maps should be smoother.

Re: Increased Lag?
On and off there is some rubberbanding while playing for me on POE. Ping rates seem to be normal, but still weird effects esp in larger maps.

Re: Increased Lag?
Yalta has issues but the others should be running good. I will continue to hunt for ways to improve the FPS on our maps. Its a top concern in any project I am working on. With Kerch it certain was and I harassed our testers to death about testing FPS on it. A new map I am making called Matador which is a massive armor battle I am going through the same things to make it as lag free as possible.

Re: Increased Lag?
I never lag on Kerch, on Yalta though, WAYYY too many statics and renders happening on that map.

Re: Increased Lag?
Greasy, I don't think it's lag that might be PoE related, at least not at the client level, as that for me was translated into system lag in the past but is no more with my current rig (where BF2 used to utterly destroy my old rig, it is now crushed by my new one). This was a more connectivity-related issue. I'm pretty sure that it was nothing on my end as my router showed no activity other than my own PC, I had no other applications running in the background, and a tracert to the server's IP shows clean hops with no timeouts anywhere in between.

Re: Increased Lag?
Could it just be that with the new release there are many more people playing than normal? more people causes more lag, you only see this many people when the new release comes out. just wait a bit and see what happens when we go back to the normal levels

Re: Increased Lag?
I'm finding problems on Yalta primarily, and not too many problems elsewhere. There do seem be a lot of random ping spikes going on though.
OPS, the bacon is on you.
