    Conduct Unbecoming

On December 8th at about 1:00 AM, on the Pripyat map, I participated in breaking one of the most cardinal rules of TG's servers by using an exploit to have an unfair advantage over the opposing team.

To the opposing team's squad who bore the brunt of this shameful behavior, particularly to those whom I count as friends, I apologize. Oh my gosh, you guys...I'm so sorry. I just feel awful about it.

I humiliated myself by not immediately separating myself from this behavior, and offer no excuse nor do I blame anyone. My only explanation to those who want one--I don't understand or comprehend why I did it, I just can't believe it--is that I was up too late, with too little sleep under my belt, to think clearly or act decisively in the manner befitting a TG member and an Irregular.

To all my friends and fellow members, particularly those whose friendship, guidance and camaraderie I have come to value over the past two years, I am so sorry.

When I think of those whose respect I have gained, my regret knows no bounds. How easily and quickly I betrayed the tenets to which I professed to adhere!

To my fellow Irregs, I also apologize, but I also caution you: any of us, at any time, can become careless and suddenly be acting an asshat before we realize it. We can also be in a situation where we see a comrade doing something foolish. It is our job TO SPEAK UP AND SAY, NO! THIS IS NOT THE TG WAY. I WILL NOT TAKE PART IN THIS. In this I failed. Moreover, I didn't leave once I realized that what we were doing was wrong. I hung around to watch because it was new and amusing, and I didn't want to sound like Mr. Preachy McHighhorse.

    It won't happen again.

Now I'm apologizing to everyone for doing something wrong, instead of having done something right, for which I would need to make no apology.

I'm not trolling for encouragement/pity. I'm not asking for what I don't deserve. I'm not asking for what I think I deserve. I'm asking for what I hope you'll give me, whether you think I deserve it or not.

Not a blank slate, not a second chance--I ask you to accept my apology.

Your name is Eevil so it is expected that you would do that....no problem. Hopefully you have reported the exploit to Greasy Mullet and the boys so it can be unexploited.

    Re: Conduct Unbecoming

Axis brings up a touchy subject, and while we all know what he did is wrong by his own admission, it isnt our place to hold a grudge. As the good book says, let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

What I mean by that is we have all had our transgressions. I've had plenty of times where I've toed the line and even stepped over it. Whether that was because I was bored, I wanted to have a little extra fun or because I didnt know better is irrelevant. The point is that we have all done it and as such, we have to find it in ourselves to accept this man's apology. At least he had the courage to step up and say he did wrong and take any lashing that would come his way for it.

So before anyone says or even thinks anything bad here, ask yourself if you've ever had a time where you should have made this kind of public apology.

Axis, everyone falters sometimes, even the best of us (i'm certainly not one of those "best", but I play along side them all the time). By your apology alone, you have exemplified what it means to be a true member of this community and the ideals therein. Just dont do it again or we'll have to give ye 20 lashes against the mainmast with the cat o' nine.

It takes a big man to apologize and realize his mistake, rather than covering it up or repeating it.

    I applaud you.

    Look, Axis!

    Better now?

Seriously though, cap'n, 'twas mighty brave of you to be 'fessing to your transgressions. Just put on the wench's garb, finish up the swabbin', and get a good night's rest. We'll let you put the parrot back on your shoulder in the morn' n and we promise we'll put your share of grog to good use. It might take a while to get the plume-y hat back - Kilevri says it brings out the color in his eyes so well. Big piratey group hug, now?

The nail that sticks out gets...

Actually, I feel just being in the buildings as an infantryman to be a bit of an exploit as the windows can't be fired into but can be fired out of. I remember my squad mates trying to find you buggers for the longest time. Was definately an interesting surprise when we finally saw what was happening. That map is riddled with bugs, and good on you for fessing up upon realizing your error. TG needs people like you.

    Re: Conduct Unbecoming

I think there was generally no harm done as mostly TG were the recipients of the shenanigans. It was getting frustrating but the only thing I was concerned with is having public players see anyone with a TG tag using exploits.

Props to you for stepping up Axis, I know I thought I was on crazy pills when I could not find the door you guys were coming out of.

Lets all make sure that new players to our server know that we are community that uses tactics and camaraderie, not hacks and exploits. Mantis already does enough to garner that impression

    Re: Conduct Unbecoming

Wow, I have read all the replies and saw the 'odd' helmet / simulator. As for an appology, needed? Yes, I believe it was. As for acceptance? Most definently, I am new... This really did not impact me... But being you are the one who accepted me into Irr's I feel obligated to read up on you.
Also, You help so much... To take anything away from you for this ONE TIME use of an exploit (which Someone needs to PM me about, I dont know what one is really...). I also might use an exploit and not realize - SOMEONE contact me that knows a lot about exploit's or so forth.

My possible exploit is a ~ command issue to fix lag and so forth. I dont know how much of an exploit it is, if even called one. It is not down loadable its only typed into something BF2 has offered.

You're a good man for owning up to your mistake Axis. Props for taking responsibility.

I don't mean to hijack, but I'd also like to apologize. It's been bugging me and I want to get it off my chest. A few nights ago I was AT and defending Outpost on Snake Eyes. I found myself with two enemy right on top of me. Without thinking I fired my AT rocket at their feet, killing the two enemies and myself. I didn't intend to kill myself, but that's what happened. I don't remember who it was but I want to apologize.

I think we all have a little asshat inside of ourselves. Sometimes I have to beat mine with a stick and throw him in the truck of a car. Maybe yours got out for a few minutes Axis, but you have handled it well.

    LONG LIVE TG!

Axis, it's okay. We are all human beings and we all make mistakes. I know i'm gonna sound like a elementary school teacher now but we must learn from our mistakes and move on. And at the end of the day, it's only a video game. There's no need to worry about it. Besides we all forgive you and it's you first major mistake in what? Two years?

By the way, got you a cookies and milk for your honesty:

    Apology accepted.

Move on. It happens to everyone at some point or another. The fact that you know it was wrong, and have the moral fiber to apologize is enough for me.
