Commanding help!
Last night was very frustrating for me. It seemed there wasn’t a lot of cohesive team play. I usually shy away from commanding but last night I was so baffled I had to step up. We were playing the Odessa map (I think) and we were getting our butts kicked early on. I had gotten team switched from the Ukraine side over to the US. I was the squad leader for a bunch good of guys with no TG tags and they seemed as frustrated as I was. I told them I was going to command to see what the hell was going on. No other squad was holding a flag for very long if at all.
After I signed on as Commander I saw three 6 man squads, two one to two man squads flying the jets and helos. I thought…hmmm…this isn’t bad why we aren’t doing better. I looked at the 6 man squads closer. The squad I left was fine. The other two 6 man squads HAD FOUR SNIPERS PER SQUAD. I immediately got on the viop and told all the SLs to switch up. One of the squads stepped up and switched but the other totally ignored me. I didn’t want to tell an Admin because those guys have enough on their plate. I wanted to try to prove to these folks that having 4 snipers in a 6 man squad really isn’t helping the team. I don’t think the SL had a voip and he ignored my team chat of “WE AREN”T GOING TO WIN IF YOU HAVE FOUR SNIPERS IN YOUR SQUAD!!!!! Unfortunately all I could do is berate them with countless, “YOU’RE THE WORST SQUAD EVER!” I thought to myself, “How can these guys not notice they are hurting the team?”
I have no idea how to prove to these lone wolf squads that they should listen to me without getting anyone kicked. I would rather not go that route because I believe kicking people is bad for TG. Any suggestions?

Re: Commanding help!
Kicking guys that can learn and add to the gameplay is bad. Most everyone here would rather help somebody learn our style of play rather than get rid of a new guy.
As for not telling an admin 'cause we're busy, well, we're supposed to be busy. Don't worry about that. Anyway, most guys will respond to big green letters before they'll take a kick anyway.
As for what will help in general, yeah, being constructively vocal in general is the most you can do in most cases. Doesn't always work, of course, but you gotta try.OPS, the bacon is on you.

I guess I'm having trouble getting people's attention without making an enemy of our server. I'm new at commanding and I'm just looking for some non evasive ways to get my point across.

Re: Commanding help!
UKR had full air domination the majority of Odessa. Our air force only got pestered by the Raptor when Shotcha took up the job near the end there. Didn't look like the Cobra was doing much and I don't believe the raptor bomber was even in the air for most of the round. Our armor was just roaming around all over with ease.

Re: Commanding help!
For godsake, PLEASE report it when someone is non-responsive!!!! It's the first thing you should do. There's almost always 3-4 of us logged in every night, so we're really not that busy.
Sure, it'd be nice if we didn't have to kick people, but ya know what? We do. I'd rather have 43 team players in functional squads than 44 with a non-functioning squad. One bad player CAN ruin the round for every one on their team - don't let that happen simply because you don't want to make them mad at TG.

Re: Commanding help!
Tell an admin that you are having a problem. Let the admin be the heavy, thats our job.
Many times the threat to the player of reporting him to an admin will fix the problem. The admin will stand behind the CO. The CO is in charge as long as its within the rules.
It really does not take much for us to warn, kick, ban a player. All I have to do is Alt-Tab, find the player in the list and click on the menu. The hardist part is finding the player in the list. If I am leadign a squad I find a quick hiding place first. If not I do it right away and hope not to die. Funny thing is that many times no one shoots me because I am not moving.
Key reporting issue is that you type out the FULL player name that helps a great deal since I look at a alphabetical listing.
Admins are here to respond to the players needs

Re: Commanding help!
For the very few times i've CO'ed, i found that remaining calm and patient is step 1 of being a good CO. It may take a moment for the CO to get to their objective due to opposition that a CO may not see due to issuing squad orders and finding other targets of interest. It is up to the squad to maintain their own situational awareness and the CO's job to assist them whenever possible, not hold their hand.
