    Thumbs down Dropping Like Flies

I think as I have noticed of late 2 maps have been the basis of contention among the POE2 populace. Now some people like both these ,some like one and some like none.

These maps are Snake Eye's and Pripyat. Now I only bring this up because I see the amount of disconnects at the beginning of each round and do not think it is mere coincidence that the server practically empties during either. I suggest that until the issues are either ironed out Dev-side or with Server-side tweaks they be stricken from the rotation post haste.

Now before I get any criticism on this, let me say that I appreciate what both maps bring to the table but I cannot accept the inevitability of their effects. I am just looking for the best way to keep the server pop high and not have touch and go players who drop out on certain maps and then forget to come back in.

I think if at least 50 people agree on this it may stand as a majority. Please state your response with a simple "yay or nay" Yay=Get rid of the maps until fixed\tweaked, nay means keep them in rotation and see if we will eventually adjust.

Long May the FFTHFF(5th) live in our memories and our teamplay.

Perhaps they should be password night only maps, like what is done on the PR server with Kashan Desert.

Pripyat is doing fairly well in the Vehicle Map thread. Not sure how Snake Eyes is going over as it was left out of the polling.

I see the issue with Snake Eyes. I know a lot of TG players enjoy it but overall the public has massive issues with it right now. I would prefer to see it sidelined until our next patch than drive people away right now.

Pripyat I dont see as being the same issue however it is getting some work in the next patch to fix up some bug and balance issues as well.

I agree on Snake Eyes, but I really like Pripyat.

Well I absolutely refuse to play Pripyat anymore, it just leaves me all depressed. ANd it has nothing to do with winning or losing. So Yay on both as Snake Eye's is just a problem for all the pubbies.

nay, I think Priphyat is a fairly ok map, and Snake Eyes just have to stay.

Ps. Password night would be a great idea by the way...

Truth be told Lucky, only 36 people have voted on that poll, not exactly the broadest demo to base an opinion on I think. Maybe someone could make this thread into a poll and see if that would make it easier?

But then we might lose the reasons behind it and also sometimes polls are just done to waste time.

    Re: Dropping Like Flies

Interesting post. I'm not sure about striking anything "post haste," but a discussion will be useful.

I'm a big fan of both maps. On Snake Eyes, I do kind of think you either love it or hate it, but there's some good discussions going on about how to make it more playable, and I see people warming to it. I'm optimistic, and regardless, I think it's a map valuable to the TG community.

As far as Pripyat goes, I just think it's a good solid gameplay map with a unique feel to it (and I like night maps.) It's good to know Mullet's tweaking it, though, since I know there's a couple minor issues.

I really don't have a problem with those maps. They are actually one of my favorites believe it or not. But then again, I only played those two maps once and I've been too busy with FH2 to notice the drops in population.

I have to agree with in the sence that it kills the pub. I dont think that maps are awful but they do kill the pub it goes from almost full to almost empty. Snake eyes isnt as bad but prip i just cant enjoy playin

    Re: Dropping Like Flies

With Snake Eyes, I can pretty much tell within the first couple of minutes whether or not I want to stick around for the duration, especially if I happen to be playing on the USMC side. The way that people bumrush the arty and TLAM assets in order to secure themselves a seat for the rest of the game and then not support their team adequately really gets my goat. In my opinion, those should be licensed positions reserved only for those who have proven themselves both capable of doing the job reasonably well (I don't ask for perfect performances) and more importantly of responding to their teams needs and not their own (already guaranteed) positive KDR.

Pripyat... It's a good map on paper, but the current version has issues that need to be ironed out before I'll call it a favorite.

    Re: Dropping Like Flies

I really don't have a problem with either. People seem to get frustrated pretty quickly on snake eyes if the US can't gain a flag on the beach.

If I spawn in on the US Side I prepare myself to get slaughtered over and over, and them I'm OK with it. As a amphibious assault map, thats the way it should play.

But if you want to modify it to make it more palatable, then I have 2 different ideas that might help the gameplay.

    1) add one or two more flags on the beach. The more flags to defend, the more spread out the defenders will be. This should allow the US to capture a flag a little easier.

    2) remove the uncappable status from both sides.

Sounds crazy, but I think it would work. Face it, when testing the maps, the POE team has testers that play the map the way it is supposed to be played. With well formed squads making a coordinated landing, the map is fine as it is.

But if you throw a few dysfunctional squads on the map, things can go sour pretty quickly.

If the uncap status was removed from the map, the dysfunctional squads would be in the water assaulting the boat instead of defending. This would make it easier for the US side to slip by and grab a flag. Secondly, it would give the dysfunctional squads on the US side something to do instead of piling into a boat and getting killed over and over. And lastly, if the US side is totally ineffective, a cap out will end the map quicker, reducing the frustration factor for those getting pummeled.

(spies like us is another map that can be torture if one side is ineffective)
