Great Fights Friday night. New Question :)
I had a great time playing last night from about 10PM - 1 AM EST. The squads I ran with did a great job of maintaining squad integrity and mission focus.
As I continue to learn the nuances of POE2 I'm noticing that I'm having difficulty hearing some of my squad-mates while others are coming through loud and clear. Are there any tweaks I can use to get better Tx/Rx?
Honestly, my current set looks like Macgyver suffered one blunt-force trauma too many. I'm using my 4.1 speaks are primary sound with a boom-mic that I hang around my neck complements of a wire-hanger.
I run Teamspeak on my local server which my friends use to coordinate our games. I also use the same PTT key for Teamspeak and the BF2-VoIP. Looking at my BF2 settings the volume on the BF2-VoIP is 100%.
Any suggestions guys?"Damn them and their superior firepower!"

uhm, I don't know if there is much you can do on your end. I'm a chatterbox... many others talk only when absolutely necessary.
I bought a cheap pair of speakers / micro phone and really like it. I wanted a usb set, but... this set was $20 and works well enough. I only use the headset for BF2.Park Bench

Re: Great Fights Friday night. New Question :)
Often this has to do with the person's VOIP settings in BF2. Their transmission setting might be too low, or their threshold level might be inappropriate for how loud they speak. If I can't hear people, I ask them to amp up their transmission and that usually works well enough.
ninja edit - While we're on the subject, does anybody know what it means when your mic icon while speaking in BF2 goes red and looks broken? Is this because the threshold is blocking my message?

Not sure - I do know the game auto-mutes people after like 20-30 seconds... which was annoying when SL'ing and half your directions get muted
You'll be talking and it'll be green and then it secretly switches to red!

Also had some great rounds Friday while I was on earlier in the evening. On my first map load in bf2 my pc will often switch what source it wants to use for the mic. I have to alt-tab and set it back to the right one. If I forget it will show green but not transmit anything.

Re: Great Fights Friday night. New Question :)
Maximus and myself did some testing earlier today on the server with our BF2-VoIP and teamspeak.
We found that by making the changes to our Voice settings in game vs. the standalone .exe in the Battlefield2 folder, the settings seems to stay permanently.
I definitely recommend enabling the Microphone Boost as it seems to help both of us. We also noticed the cracked Red speaker occurring. After playing around with it, I came to the conclusion that it does that when you're transmitting too loud. By raising my mic threshold, I could prevent that. That's something you'll probably have to play around with based on how loud you are. Evidently I talk like I'm in a hurricane. I ended up putting my threshold around 25%.
One of the aspects of POE2/TG is the communication which is why I've been trying to tweak this so much. The game seems so much more involved when I know there's a bad guy in the building with me vs. finding out by way of being stabbed."Damn them and their superior firepower!"

Re: Great Fights Friday night. New Question :)
I had a really good time playing Snake Eyes as Ukraine
. At first I had my squad (SpiceGirls) spawn in at the southernmost flag to prevent the APC's from rolling in but the rest of the team had the same idea. I made the decision to move north and cut them off there, but a couple sneaky USMC snuck in around us and capped Lobby. Tempus (CO) had us move immediatly on the Flag and recapture it. At this time it was too late...damn near the entire USMC team spawned in right when we got onto the flag. After several hard assaults we finally capped it.
There was something fishy about this...the capture went to smoothly! Tempus immediatly reported enemy moving onto the back flag and was in the process of capping it. He ordered my squad to move across the map and recapture it. After a long and grueling battle, we soon gained control of it. But as we were attacking, the USMC decided to cap almost every flag behind us. So Tempus, once again, ordered us to attack Lobby. So we, once again, humped it all the way there. Lets just say our virtual legs were going to be sore the following morning.
This was one of the few PoE rounds that I enjoyed in a while. Thanks to everyone who showed up

That was an interesting round if nothing else. I was chasing Dirtboy he was my SL, and I was meds. Great job keeping us mobile, and engaged. My ears are still ringing from 'microphone levels too high, I wanna be the squad leader, so I'm gonna give orders to Dirtboy guy I've never seen on the servers / forums.' Maybe there should've been 2 fire teams for our squad, - Him , and then the rest of the squad. DAMN! buddy... CO says hold lobby, we're holding lobby.

There were some great fights last night but.. If anyone could tell me where to look for the Operation Alcorn round I would love to review that one. That was the single biggest a@#$ whoopin i have ever been in. There was four full squads attacking Backyard and they couldnt cap it.. We were defending church rather nicely but we left to see what all the comotion was about. And WHAM !!! It seemed like there was only one squad defending it.? Wassup wit dat!!!

Seriously though, if you can hear some ok, then it's not a problem on your end...
