Idea for Server Side mod
Here's an idea for a server side mod to increase game "flow" and teamwork.
AT mines create bottlenecks. They're supposed to, but everybody seems to have like 5 of 'em. I suggest that it be limited to 2. That way, you have to work in teams to create a bottleneck. You either have to have support or engineer or AT to help you create a bottleneck, and it stops the spam of AT mines.
Seems like AT mines stop the flow of the game and make it more of a 'trench warfare' setup than it should be on some maps, especially where there's lots of armor.

I think your argument is presenting more evidence for your opposition, in this forum. You SHOULD have either, support, engineer, and/or AT in your squad.
Mines keep tanks and APCs from avoiding all the sniper fire (HA HA) from their own team. and rolling in on flags.
a real good change to the mod is to introduce a bit of PR. snipers who attempt to drive tanks and APCs should accidentally set off their own claymore.
last night I spawned in a UCB full of our tanks and watched 3 snipers jump into tanks and roll out.
sorry rich. I say if anything give us, AT guys more mines.
and heck let us throw them at tanks when we run out of AT rounds.

LOL at the mine throw! Back in our 1942 says, we used to do a low gravity night on our server once a month. When that happened, tossing a mine was just like tossing a frisbee. Now you could not play much of a game like this but it was fun for a couple hours just to do stunts and goof off. It became kind of popular and we had a lot of our non clan member regualrs coming and joining us for it each month. Of course when somebody joined that had no clue what was going on (even though it was in the servers title that night), we would get a huge kick out of their responses of "WTH is going on here?!?" and "This clan hacks! I am out of here!". Ah the good old days!

The only time mines can bottleneck is when someone seals off a choke point with them. And when someone does that, they prevent their own team from moving, so it really isn't an effective strategy.
The vast majority of servers run with ff off, so i suspect that most of the new people do not realize that friendlies cannot cross their mines. Additionally, the new players are used to running over friendly mines, so getting tks is almost unavoidable, no matter how well mines are placed.
That said, I am totally happy with the implementation on the tg server as it is.
however, if the range of the RPGs were increased a bit...........................

I think mines create more of a problem for the friendly team, than the opposing. In most cases the mines greatest use is creating a bottleneck to setup an ambush. Less mines only mean more armor kills. If you like armor, I could see how you might want less AT weapons, but imagine the flipside on certain maps.

Like Matador?!? Your squad will be thankful of your mines when you have a dozen tanks coming down on your position.
