server resets
I've been on twice now this week when the server has reset itself or someone has reset it while it's been nearly full, which kills the number of people in the server. Why don't y'all set it to reset itself early in the day (noon or so eastern) as a precautionary measure?

Re: server resets
It doesn't really work that way, unfortunately. A crash is a crash, and we deal with it when it happens. Thursday night, you're right, it killed us for a while. I actually thought it was odd when the population didn't bound right back. We had one hang-up on map change tonight and needed to reset it, and the population didn't blink. There's no preventive measures to take, though.

Re: server resets
They suck and as khaerus states there is nothing we can do. I wish it would just crash like normal instead cause with these hangs on map change we have to manually stop/start the server to get it running again...if there isn't an admin around it will just hang indefinitely.

Re: server resets
Any ideas what is causing it? I know you guys switched to a server recently and they seem more stable than they were. Is it the girth of POE2 itself?

Re: server resets
Nothing we (the POE developers) can really do if a server decides to say "fk you!" and die.
I think it's just a general BF issue, I see servers of other mods and vanilla go down just as often.

Re: server resets
We should feel greatful that the BF2 servers go down far less often than the 2142 servers.

Re: server resets
I was just thinking that a general reboot every day would hopefully maybe clear some of the stuff that could be causing the server to puke? Just do it when there's nobody in it?
Just a thought? Just schedule it or something?
