Question 1900x1200 Resolution settings?

Just bought a 24" LCD monitor that has a native resolution of 1920x1200 - previously used a 19" LCD running 1280x1024. Since BF2 doesn't offer 1920x1200, I googled a search to see how to get BF2 to run at this resolution.

I found the fix for Vanilla BF2: "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200, but nothing for POE2. I tried adding the xy coordinates to the end of the POE2 desktop .exe; "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/poe2 +ignoreAsserts 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200, but it crashes to desktop when trying to launch. I also tried widescreen fixer, but I can't get poe2 to launch to even see if that helps.

Any tips on how to get the 1920x1200 running?

Re: 1900x1200 Resolution settings?

You need to put +szx 1920 +szy 1200 in earlier like this right after fullscreen1 and before +modpath

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200 +modPath mods/poe2 +ignoreAsserts 1

That's how I got mine to run 1680x1050. Hope that helps.

And you need to get the Widescreen-Fixer! http://imk.cx/pc/widescreenfixer/
This fixes the widescreen display ratio. It works.

My POE2 shortcut is
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/poe2 +ignoreAsserts 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200

Success!!! Added your shortcut with Widescreen-Fixer and POE loaded right up this time.

The video resolution options in game don't show the 1920x1200 though, 1600x1200 is the highest and that's what it set mine to. Is that some kind of BF2 querk?

Also, what is the preferred update rate in Widescreen-Fixer? I'm using the recommended v1.32, and from what I've read it suggests a lower rate, so I tried 21. Is that right?

Thanks Yogi and Marstein for the tips!

Yeah, BF2 doesn't support wide screen resolutions.

The in-game settings screen doesn't show it, but you can specify on the command line.

Running Widescreen fixer corrects the widescreen behavior; i.e. it gives you a wider field of vision. Drawbacks are that it adds some processing and when zooming in with the ironsights that can be a problem. Mine is set to around 20 too, and I don't worry much about it.

Re: 1900x1200 Resolution settings?

I had a HUGE problem with the widescreen thing about a month ago. I bought a 25.5 inch and the command line wasnt working. What i found is that when it says "+szx 1900 +szy 1200" i put "+szx1900 +szx1200". No spaces between the szx and the number. works fine i guess. And widescreen fixer never did help at all.

The refresh rate is what your monitor is set at. I think mine is 16:10? Dont know for sure.

I tried it your way too by removing the spaces, and it works fine both ways for me with no difference or problems. My monitor is 16:10 also and has a refresh rate of 6ms. The picture quality is excellent, I just have to get use to the big size when playing - I keep moving my head around to follow the action;-) The nice thing is now I can sit back and relax on my chair and still see everything... including me getting killed by Namebot or Mantis...

Thanks,

-Zip

Sorry, the Refresh Rate is 60hz. 6ms is the Response time. It's a Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP 24-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor.

Re: 1900x1200 Resolution settings?

6ms is the GTG response time, not the refresh rate.

Re: 1900x1200 Resolution settings?

I'm gonna have to check what I have for settings... I originally just plugged in my Apple 22" Cinema display (old school one) and launched, been playing that way ever since last fall. POE fills the screen (it is widescreen) and isn't cut off on either side. shrug

very interesting...

Re: 1900x1200 Resolution settings?

You should set the slider to 1ms... this will give you the least amount of 'stutter' when zooming in and out. (For me, I typically don't see any stutter when it's set to 1)

I have it set at 6 right now and haven't noticed anything. I'll set it at 1 and see what happens... too late now, so I'll try it out late Friday afternoon if all goes well.

Thanks, Zip
