Tank bug testing session Thursday night - your feedback is needed

Thursday night we will be running a modded version of Operation Sabre. This version will only have Abrams tanks available for both sides.(20 per side) No other vehicles will be on the map. This is being done at the request of the poe2 dev team in an effort to help track down the dreaded tank bug. What we need from everyone here is two things:

1. Reliable feedback on whether you encountered the tank bug. Sabre is very bare but there is still the possibility you may try to shoot at a long range target and something not being rendered is blocking the shot. Try to be absolutely sure you have encountered the bug before stating/posting so...freecamera is available to check if there was anything blocking your shots. Also be sure you were using the right shell type.

2. Have patience and continue to duke it out in tanks even if you are not enjoying the map at all. This test will be one round and we will try to make it last only about 20 minutes. If you are not having fun then fret not...it won't last long. If you are having fun, well... I will keep that in mind for a modnight.

Expect this round to occur sometime in between 10PM EST and 12AM EST.

Abrams?

Thought it was the Oplot that had the issue the most.

The coding of the M1A2 is slightly different smokey.
We want to do a mass test on the M1A2 and see if these difference cause it to perform differently under high strain battle conditions.

Didnt saw the tank bug, two shells hit me and didnt do damage, maybe those where heat round. It was a pretty fun map, id replay that one more often.

So you heard 2 impact sounds but took no damage? Where they during the same time frame? Meaning you heard one and then after about the time it takes to reload you heard another?

I never had the issue and did not see any comments in chat talking about getting it. If you did get it, then thats too bad. I have our Tank map called Matador in the next patch which has ALL of our tanks going head to head... so it is REALLY important to me to solve this issue if we can.

Was on two separate occasions so my guess is it was heat rounds.

All my shells connected.

I got hit once by a nerfed shell...I assume it was heap cause whoever hit me never complained.

I guess I missed this, oh well, seeing how we are talking about bugs, lets address the c4 bug.
Sometimes in the game when I throw c4 I can’t switch over to the detonator why????
Is this a known bug? Or is it something on my side?

That's a bf2 network issue and not fixable.

Re: Tank bug testing session Thursday night - your feedback is needed

I am pretty sure I never experienced the bug on Operation Sabre. Two maps later I felt like I was at home when my sabot rounds did no damage to a APC firing from 40 feet away into his rear. And later the Eurocopter was shrugging off HEAP rounds like a champ. I don't know what I will do when my T-84 does not fire nerf rounds.

Re: Tank bug testing session Thursday night - your feedback is needed

The few engagements I had on that map were at extreme range, so I really couldn't tell if my shells hit or not. It seemed that too many people were worried about winning the map instead seeing if the bug could be reproduced.

Are we all talking about the same bug? The tank bug that I have seen is where you shoot another piece of armor (with the right shell), see the hit indicator but no damage is registered.

The last time I saw this bug was on one of the winter maps, i forget the name, but I put 8 sabots in the side of an apc. it was killed by a heli or I probably could have put more in it. This was at medium range.

Re: Tank bug testing session Thursday night - your feedback is needed

The only tank i've ever had that bug prob with is the Opalot (sp?). Heres the setup from what I can remember of how it happens to me, because I was wanting to know how the bug would start during my gameplay, I have tried to explore this bug myself some when it pops up on me. The majority of time it happens to me is when i'm in a tank and firing HEAP's with no problems...lil peoples are flipping and dying...dozers are popping then someone or something kills me and the tank. When I respawn and climb back into the tank and re-enter the combat area thats when the bug hits me. I'll be on Sabot's or HEAPS and they will do no damage whatsoever to any target i'm on. A few times i've gotten out of my tank and fired my personal weapon then climbed back in and the bug would seem to stop, but i'm not sure if this is from me exiting the tank alone or the combo of exiting the tank and firing another weapon then remounting. If I have the bug and I get killed again...respawn and back into the tank again there is usually no prob and the gameplay for me returns to normal.
Thats my own personal experience with a tank bug that I come across sometimes.
