Team Switching
Is there a way we can stop players from team switching? This is getting entirely out of control. We all know the reasons why people do it, ie. friends on other side, favorite asset, just got destroyed last three rounds etc... It is really aggravating to see this happen night in and night out. The players that are most guilty of this are regulars and even sport some form of the TG tag. I just wished they realized that this totaly disrupts the gaming environment here at TG for some of us.. We have an awesome group of admins here and i am in no way telling them what to do but we are quick to react when someone new bunnyhops but yet we never speak up about team switching.

Re: Team Switching
It does suck when it then stacks a team...
While there is a shat-tonne of fellow 3dGN'ers that now play on any given night, I just stick on the side I am on for the round if I am on the other side - nothing as satisfying as T-bagging someone wearing the 3dGN tag. ; )

::wipes face off:: Thanks Bud. Is it humid in your neck of the woods?
I do the same as Bud stay in the side I start on. At the end of the round I will switch to the side that my buddies are on if I'm able to. We all want to play with our friends. There's nothing like chatting on VOIP as you squad bag the guy you just killed.

Re: Team Switching
I only switch, as the case was last night, if the sides are uneven. Not that having me on your side will stack the deck!

Re: Team Switching
IRT Yogi - I do the same (eventually switch to be on the side of my gaming buds), and my apologies for not showering in over a month. ; )
IRT Shikaze - same, if they are 'horribly' stacked, and the player count is low (because a stacked/low count server just sno balls the disconnect effect, of course)

Re: Team Switching
Test is right- the team-switching has gotten bad, and we can't blame it on the disconnect bug anymore. It's probably time to get back to enforcing this like we used to. So... we'll start dealing with it.
Here's a couple of points:
1. Auto-balance is on, and it works pretty well to control numerical imbalances (ie the number of players on each team.) If teams are horribly imbalanced to start a round, it'll take a minute to work, but as soon as guys start dying, they start getting switched.
2. Nobody should be team-switching for assets/ favored weapons.
3. Honestly, people shouldn't be switching teams to "play with their buddies," either... We all know it's more fun to do so, we all want to do so, but we all can't. It creates the problems we've been seeing lately. We can try to accommodate players as much as possible, but if patterns get noticed, we'll fix it. If I see all the 71st on one team join their mates on the other team at round's end, that would be a problem, for instance. Learn to play with others... it leads to better matches for us all.

Re: Team Switching
[[f I see all the 71st on one team join their mates on the other team at round's end,]]
Meaning, as the tickets expire, they switch? Or if, upon next map, they are all on the same team?
Whatever the server rules are, so be it, TBH. I just went and read the
Sticky: RULES: BF2 Rules & Guidelines
&
Sticky: RULES: Basic Rules of Conduct
-and saw no mention of switching. But its not like its rampant among us 3dGNers. We've all known each other long enough that its not paramount that wer'e all on the same team. If ther'e one straggler on one side, then its of interest. Other than that, just fookin play...

Re: Team Switching
I've noticed some pretty stacked teams when I've been on lately, too. I always join the weaker team, not that that really helps them.
Unbalanced games cause the server to empty earlier than it would otherwise, so it's in everyone's interest to make an effort to keep the teams balanced.

Re: Team Switching
If you see me switch teams, I got auto-switched or a miss clicked (3 times in 8 months isn't bad)...
for me... I love playing with my friends, but I love playing against my friends too.
mostly cause I know the chances of them being a sniper are slimmer, and I can give them crap in the TS channel if they are.

Re: Team Switching
All the 3dGN'ers on one side qualifies as UNstacked. Free tickets to the other side for the 'killed while tebegging the tank' and such.

"tebegging" FTW!!!
We will have to develop a new Wiki for our EoG terms.

Re: Team Switching
Actually, I hate it when someone in my squad or I get auto-teamswitched. It messes up the whole strategy of a squad and team play.
Ex: Your squad takes a route to avoid enemy fire to take a position or flag. The squad leader hides for a safe spawn point, then someone dies say by claymore or mine while in a vehicle, gets team-switched and suddenly that person stabs the SL, and a whole squad, tank and/or chopper is mowing down the rest of the squad.
Another example is losing a player asset in your squad because of the auto-teamswitch. One squadmember is, say your medic and then gets killed, team switched and when the SL is expecting him to respawn with meds to heal everyone in the squad... he's gone. That has happened to me a lot and my former squad lead will ask me on Teamspeak "Zippy where are you, or what happened?" My dreaded reply is "$#!%, I got teamswitched!"
I realize the importance of keeping the teams balanced numerically, but when it's 25 vs 24, the lack of one player may not be as disastrous as switching a player out of a squad to the other side. This really irritates me and I just had to vent.
To Hitestfest's point, I've too have noticed the switching going on right after a round, while the few minutes are ticking away for the new round. A once balanced matchup is suddenly 5 to ten players heavy on a certain side from the previous round. Guys tell me they specifically do it for the German Medic Gun, the Heavily Armored German Tank, .50cal sniper rifle or attack chopper... Impressive aren't they?
Sorry for the rant,
-Zip
