The server is dead all of the sudden - why?

I noticed that after the recent release of the new maps, the server has been really dead. Please no inspirational quips about the age of the game since the server was doing quite well up until about 2 weeks ago. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas why. Thanks.

Who knows? Summer, taking a break, real life stuff. Stating the obvious, I think lack of players online also contribute to this. The average player logs on, finds out its maybe 10 vs 10 rather than 30 vs 30 and decides not to log on. The game is the same but with lower player counts people may not be comfortable with it.

I was able to squeeze in a game tonight on Fallen with 6 vs 6 when I started and it was more fun than some of the bigger games than played on. (nice SL semperfuzzy)

From a message from Smokey, I got an impression that they are testitating the new patch?

We always are, chucklehead, but I doubt the amount of testers we have are going to effect the server loadouts.

It's summertime, which is a notorious time for a decline in server populations.

The more that ppl can stick around for those, the more the chances the server will load up. I dont get much chance to game, so when I log in, I tend to stick around for whatever the server gives me, as long as it is at least 2 vs 2.

...course' I prefer the 31 vs 31, but if you dont stay on the server, others wont either.

I think fewer folks are playing BF2 overall.

BF2 numbers are steady. I dont know if its the map pack, the fact that the mod has been out a long time, the fact that there has not been a new patch for over 6 months, or if people are just playing other games or doing other things with their time.

I hope with our next patch we will see the server pick up again. Patch is coming very soon, look for news on it!

I know I haven't played in a couple of weeks, but I never thought it would empty out the server.

Re: The server is dead all of the sudden - why?

although I really enjoy the gameplay here at TG, and I would guess that most of the regulars do as well it seems that the "map rotation" is pretty much the same on a daily basis. I know the new map pack was supposed to help with that but really I have not seen many of the new maps on a regular rotation. This could be becasue of the time I log on but I usually end up playing the same 4 or 5 maps everytime I get on TG. Most times I don't mind but it can get pretty redundant.... I also only ever play for a couple hours at a time, so it could be just me...

looking forward to the new patch, what can we expect? Anything to prevent me from getting killed so much? I think I've become the official TG whipping "killing boy";when I am on you can sure bet your killing stats will go up.

see you out there.
