Again UCB probs...

Well last night on 6/25 we were on the map (can't remember, has the train yard and bridge flags along the river). Anyways the server was pretty much 80% new named people. The german side immed. cap'd everything and started pressing real close to the UCB. I had died and when I respawned at main there was a player from the other team sitting in the middle of the UCB in a Dingo killing people as they spawned. Has the "Dome" been removed from the map? What are the current rules pertaining to the UCB's. I know about firing into them, but it didnt seem the "Dome" was doing its job.

Thanks

Rolling thunder, i believe.

Yeah, there was lots of rule disputes last night. Engaging aircraft over their UCB was another issue.

I think it is just new people unfamiliar with the rules. There have been a bunch of people getting autokicked because they don't join a squad, and lits of snipers laying claymores like FF is off.

One thing that helps, when someone is breaking a rule, is for someone on their own team to inform them of the problem. Most people don't put a lot of faith in someone from the opposing team informing them of anything. Its hard to tell if someone is legit or if they are being sarcastic or stupid. And if you are new to the server, it is even harder.

Re: Again UCB probs...

The air issue was by two seasoned players and I was kind of shocked by their dispute to be honest but since I am not an admin I did not get involved.

I was also there for Rolling Thunder and was on the team doing the assaulting but team switched to make things fair. When I spawned in the uncap, I was greated by an enemy jeep that was cut down fast, arty shells hitting the base, and basic hell for the players there.

I believe the issue started because Ukraine got backed into that flag early and when the arty fired out, it was considered fair game. Then as players were close to the base, they would get engaged by players leaving the base which turned into the stand off.

However not long after that, we broke out and then the map came down to the wire.

The map wasnt a total loss - I enjoyed touring the countryside with you, looking for their Arty.

New players = good
Informing players of the rules or contacting admins when they get out of line = better

I wasn't there but don't hesitate to speak up.

Re: Again UCB probs...

I was on most of last night a saw some of this. I know for the air/UCB dispute, Project was on and gave a ruling on that. We have had a significant amount of new players on the server and that is a good thing. I have seen an increase in not only players, but new people who are very solid SLs and that is great to see. We all have to make this an educational opportunity to politely bring them into the fold when an official game admin is not there. I have found that a friendly and polite mention of the server rules usually gets it done 95% of the time. I was very happy to see in chat and hear on VOIP how many of these new people saw a big difference in POE vs vanilla and how they appreciate the TG style. As it happens time and time again, most will be the good players who stay and the few that just don't get it or want to get it will move on.

Re: Again UCB probs...

We also had arty firing into our UCB, but they were going after ours that was firing out of the UCB. They did keep shelling after our arty was long destroyed, I spoke up and it stopped. As for the air dispute (you know who you are : ), no biggy.

I am happy to see new players, and we should look to our regulars to educate them politely ("assume good intentions"). We know people that like our rules will keep coming back, and those that don't won't. Ideally the process is:
- educate
- educate once more
- report to admin in TS (preferred) or chat

I missed the dingo in the UCB thing, I was too busy playing target for Ardvark, sorry. The rule is still no attacking the UCB, but you can attack assets/opfor firing from the UCB. Someone else can chime in, but I think the domes were shrunk or removed on certain maps.
