Announcement: Aces High and UCB rules
Aces High is a unique map. The storyline is based around a large air battle involving a US carrier group and a UKR controlled airfield on the island nearby. Anti Air is extremely prevelant around the map and specifically you will find heavy AA available to protect each teams airforce. As we have learned through testing and talking with the map creator, Greasy Mullet, the intention is for these airbases to be under constant threat of attack. The sheer quantity of jets in the air demands their point of launch be a valid target.
So considering that we are going to waive our UCB rules for this map only. All forms of attack on the airbases/UCBs are allowed and encouraged. There is no safe area.
There are still dome of deaths around these bases but when it comes to jets we are not only going to allow bombing runs and attacks in any form, but we will encourage it as it is part of the intended storyline. A team must make efforts to use the powerful quantity of AA they have to protect their airforce. With a possible 5 Essex guns around the Carrier group and a 4SAM + 1SHILKA combination at the Ukraine bases there is absolutely adequate countermeasures to remove any air threat.
We are going to be announcing this every time the map loads for a while to get the word out. Any questions ask away.

Excellent innovation! Props ta yawlz.
Now if only we could take of the DoD and uncap status, it would get REALLY interesting!

If you took the DoD off, you'd have to do it for ALL the maps.

Re: Announcement: Aces High and UCB rules
While technically true, there's a work around: Server-side, we can (and have) modded the DoD radius on individual maps.... a DoD radius of 1m = "off"

I've only been able to play this map once thus far and was defending the southern Island flag for most of the round (which was crazy fun).... What are peoples impressions thus far with respect to the UCB stuff? Have people been been able [or even been motivated] to suppress the runways on either side?

Re: Announcement: Aces High and UCB rules
The only issue I have with the UCB rules is the fact the DDG-1000 does not have a dome of death, and it's crazy easy for 3 Ukrainians to get in the main guns and also whore it up in the CIWS. This comes off as highly unfair for the USMC as the Ukrainian firebase has a DoD.
The only realistic workaround I can see for this is barring infantry from entering the DDG.

Re: Announcement: Aces High and UCB rules
I tried it out when there were about 30 people on the server towards the end of a round. We had both deck guns, the blackhawk minigun and phalanx manned for a few minutes to cause some mayhem. It was pretty fun, I want to try it with a full server.

Re: Announcement: Aces High and UCB rules
I know that this is not the place to complain but oh well. I absoulutely despise the fact that the UKR can get on that destroyer. Everytime we takeoff, about 5 seconds of airtime, then boom, you're swimming with the fishies (if you're still alive that is).
Maybe assigning a squad to just sit inside the AA guns to protect them...
