Re: Do's and Don'ts - how not to die so much
More important don'ts:
Don't: Be afraid to try your hand at squadleading!
Do: Try it! Invite a few regulars, tell them that you're new, and watch them help you have a good time at it. If no one joins, write in team chat that you'd like a few experienced players to help in the squad.
Don't: Be afraid to ask questions about the game, the server, the rules, or suggested strategies.
Don't: Have a rules discussion on the server. Take it to PM or the admin forum.
Do: Use the reporting functionailty when you see the rules violated. Even (especially!) when it is a TG/regular player.|TG-12th| fallen

Re: Do's and Don'ts - how not to die so much
DO give Rick_Slick a sporting chance by stopping out in the open for a few seconds while he is trying to shoot you. It really boosts his self-esteem when he gets a kill. And when his self-esteem is higher, the more likely he will have the confidence to approach a woman in a bar with the line "I have a 0.45 KDR in POE2, wanna go home with me tonight?" And if that works, there's a pretty good chance he might get laid. You want Rick_Slick to get laid, don't you, YOU FILTHY C_CKBLOCKERS!?! COME ON, STAND STILL ALREADY!!!

Re: Do's and Don'ts - how not to die so much
Here are some personal DO and DONT
DONT hop into my heavy APC and shoot anti tank guided missile at infantry!!!!
DONT hop into my tank and shoot an ennemy tank with the machine gun...its pointless and will only attract his attention before I can reload the next shell.
DO spot the chopper planes and armor.People doesent seem to realize that on maps where there are few key assests like one tank per side or one chopper per side that spotting it will almost guarantee a kill.

Re: Do's and Don'ts - how not to die so much
For the most part, I hate smoke, too. It tells the whole world you're there, 20 seconds before they might otherwise notice. There are times when it's necessary, but not many, in my opinion. I do know guys that use(d) it really effectively (LuckyShot, Bane, etc.) and if that's the case, so it goes- situational is right, though.
Along SAITCH'es alley: don't shoot his tank w/ a rifle- ever! Deadness quickly follows.OPS, the bacon is on you.

Re: Do's and Don'ts - how not to die so much
DON'T stand next to Smokeyandthebandit on infantry only maps. He's apparently the polar opposite, therefore magnetized to attract, the bullets of every enemy on the map, especially those of mantis.

Re: Do's and Don'ts - how not to die so much
DONT open up with your small arms on the armored portion of a gun truck. This goes especially for snipers who are standing next to the AT guy sneaking closer.
DO throw smoke on it to blind it or make it reposition. Bonus points if you dropped a mine on it before hand.|TG-12th| Namebot

Re: Do's and Don'ts - how not to die so much
Do: When approaching a flag to cap and you see c-4, you know when that flag hits neutral or sooner, you'll probably be blown to bits! Make sure you have a medic with you.
Don't: Well,,,It looks like most of the dont's have been covered.
Honestly, if you're new and want to know why TG players are always on top, ask them. If you're sick of getting shot too often then ask a TG player. We are here as a gaming community. It's more like a family. We even have our favorite players that we like to kill. In no way shape or form does any TG player seek out and destroy new players. We destroy new players who are defending a flag that we want, but that's the name of the game.
Most new players are use to running rampant and only out for themselves. This is not the TG way. We instill comradeship with every player. Cooperation is key. It's fun, try it the TG way!!
Feel free to ask any of us question in forum as well.
COUNTER=OPS out!

Re: Do's and Don'ts - how not to die so much
Do: If your SL asks you to go medic and stick with him at all times do so.
Don't: Go sniper because its a cool kit and you can drop clays everywhere. Most of the time your clay will get a teammate and a different kit is almost always more useful.
Do: Tbag Mantis at every opportunity.
Don't: Be surprised when your next 5 deaths are from Mantis

I wonder if we should start a thread devoted to Mantis like the Chuck Norris facts site.

Re: Do's and Don'ts - how not to die so much
DO: give a PgUp ("you got it") when you're squad-leader gives a new order
DONT: hang back and 'cover' your squad mates when they're capping the flag - get in there with them and turn that sucker FAST!
DO: HOLD SPAWN whenever possible. (open map and click somewhere not a CP to deselect a spawn point)... jeeps don't hold a full squad.
DONT: spawn on your SL if he's just started a long jeep/helo ride - no point risking your life [1 ticket] for a ride - just spawn in when they arrive at the waypoint.
DO: Press space-bar after you're dead and are holding-spawn... looking around is more fun than looking at the map.
DONT: use freelook to 'spot' for your squad - it's cheap and unsporting... we're not playing for money here - it's not win at any cost.
DO: whatever you can to revive your squads leader and medics - switch to medic kit and zap them back alive to sustain the attack (sometimes I go medic as SL just so I can be revived by any of my 5 squadmembers
)
edit: one more... elaborating on what others have said:
DO: use your smoke grenades on your enemies
DONT: use your smoke grenades on your own squad (i.e. throw the smoke between you and the enemy, or on the enemy... on the flag blinds you too... it's much more fun to mow down baddies as they emerge, disoriented, from a smoke plume.)
