Some people need to be retarded. I support all Gahlas-retarding measures.

Re: Bunnyhopping an issue...late at night at least
I feel your pain. PR, as well as POE has felt the wave of newcomers straight out of vanilla due to the summer. Because TG asks more from players, we see them as complete smacktards even though they may think they have done nothing wrong. All we have to do is be kind to them and try and teach them the TG way. Let them adapt to the mature community and soon they will get the hang of it.

This is the best approach to take imo and I suggest more players do it. Your informing them of the rules nicely and an admin will most likely note the text and step in when necessary. Specifically late at night when I may not be playing but most likely I'm "around" and keeping an eye on things.

Re: Bunnyhopping an issue...late at night at least
Good job on this last night guys - saw this quite a few times. Also saw some polite requests/reminders about backing off the UCB, to which people said things along the lines of "ok, didn't know we couldn't" or "sorry - didn't realize I was that close"

Re: Bunnyhopping an issue...late at night at least
That video was so funny, like moon walking! But seriously i believe that UCB camping is more of an issue than bunnyhopping ATM. HiTest will back me up on this when I say that I too will occasionally bunnyhop out of habit. That's only usually when you sneak up on me and I have to react in a split second. What goes through my mind:
1st. WHAT THE HECK????
2nd. Bunnyhop.
3rd. Shoot.
4th. Don't die.
Normally I leave number two out. Do it about once every week. Bad boy I am.
Usually as soon as I do it, I smack myself and admit to everyone on ts.

Some just don't understand, some are unaware of the rules, some just don't care. Its the reality of gameplay vs. "Angry German Kid". AT's and AP's are also good deterrents for those "rascaly rascals" "wink wink"......
I've gotten to where i'll put it up in the main chat then announce in TS. 90% of them when called out, they quit hopping, it does carry some embarrassment.

I don't think its the once in a while hopping where someone scares the crap out of you when they come around the corner and you didn't know they were there. It's the more premeditated hopping they they are complaining about.
ie. I'm getting shot at from a distance so I start running and jumping the whole way till I find cover type of thing.
Like the WSS guys that were on last night, he said, "Bunny hopping is part of the game." Then I and about 3 others said "Not here," or "No it's not"
It's like they can't read the rules on the join screen and then cry wolf when they get called on it.

I used to think that too Fortunately, }{ate and the rest of the WSS guys are respectful and stopped the jumping (they're quality teamplayers too)

If we were playing UT or Tribes (where the bunny hop mechanic isn't out of "getting out of shots by moving your hitbox around" but is a way to gather speed because the game doesn't check your speed after consecutive hops, or a way to build speed to super-jump in tribes..) or ET: Quakewars while on an Icarus (about the closest i can come to playing Tribes again ) I would agree. But "bunny hopping" as people practice it nowadays is simply not the bunnyhopping I knew of when I started playing games...
(NSFW music lyrics)
(NSFW music lyrics)
wish more people played that game anymore. loved that, and tribes 2.
Also, jb4, that first video isn't bunnyhopping, it's dolphin-diving. He's doing it because he instantly gains the accuracy of prone, at about headshot height, and keeps it while jumping up and down. REALLY bad engine bug... thats never been fixed.
