Keeping teams even.
Tonight I played about three rounds and in all 3 rounds the teams were pretty obviously stacked one way. Each round was at least a 100 point loss with one I believe being a lot more. Now, I understand that I am not the most perfect player on this server, but I generally try very hard to be fair. This simply was not fair.
This server has a real chance of being full on pretty regular basis again and I do not want to see anything sabotage that fact. A few of the players that were on the obviously better team were players who I have not seen on here in a while so I understand them wanting to play on that team for a round, but two or three starts to wear on the server. If a new player comes in during those times, it will dissuade them from returning.
Some will point out that one round was a bit over 100 and that proves that teams were not lopsided. I disagree. Being on the losing side for those three games, I can tell you the excitement level was gone by game three which is good litmus test for the parity level between teams. Anyone trying to learn TG in that last game on our team would not have been having very much fun.
I think those games would be a lot more fun if players of that caliber were spread around so that we could have matchups that were closer and better contested. I believe that teams could be better matched up according to the known quality of players on each team and our admins know players enough to know if teams are close to even. I know it is hard to do with people dropping off, but I think our server can improve in that way. If so, I know we will continue to see this server populated at a pretty heavy level.
Thanks.

Re: Keeping teams even.
Every so often a thread like this pops up. I will say it again:
Due to natural, random distributions of players on teams, on some nights one team or the other will just happen to have the better team for a few hours. It happens. It's inevitable. And it's NOT teamstacking.

Re: Keeping teams even.
I was on during those rounds. i know because i remember seeing you complaining the whole time in text chat (just an observation, no offense)
the teams were maybe a little unbalanced skill wise, but it wasn't that bad. Unless you start naming names and calling people out for stacking, this whole thing is worthless. When I looked at the sides, i didn't see the stacking you do.
So, who specifically was doing the stacking? Who is it that should have recognized that the round was not going exactly fair and done something? what should they have done?
If you could, how about putting together a list of the players arranged by their quality and post it here. I'd like to see who these quality players are, and who I should complain about.

pork speaks the truth, or feelme..
I will admit to the 3dGN squad being 75% drunk...we were fairly confused, like alot of the time our SL was somewhere out in the ocean, and we continually spawned in him/HER...praying for jaws or somethin.

What was the map? GN'ers?
Gator I know it can suck when it gets like that - truly do. But I just say fook it and try and get with a squad that isnt all sniper first timers, and chalk it up being a night that's [io] "not as good as last time"[/i].

Aces High comes to mind first, I know there was one instance where we all committed suicide, teenage fanclub stylee, wish I coulda caught a screenie of that one, and then some randomer decided to rally our squad and lead..nope he was killin himself after a few minutes as well.
lol

all good fun tho, I really have little care about the way the teams appear on either side

Re: Keeping teams even.
I see this as a major as, obviously, many of you do not.
When I see teams unnaturally stacked because of the server randomly assigning too many good players on one side, I try and do something about it because keeping things competitive can grow the server. For example, I jumped on a couple of days ago when only about four players were on. We played a couple of rounds and got to a map which I cannot remember the name, but one flag is called Mullet something. On this map, the UKR does not have any UCB's so we decided to make the Mullet flag a UCB for the UKR. Many times we could have easily swooped in and ended the game. Instead we kept a close eye on teams making sure to keep them even and by the end of the map two vs two grew to five vs. five.
It is pretty obvious that we need to keep as many people on this server that we can and I think this issue drives them away. Apparently many of you disagree so I will simply let it go from now on.

No, few or none disagree with that. I think what people disagree with is that the night in question was an example of it. Tickets were within 100 most maps, and the in-game balance didn't seem off to me, we didn't just walk all over the other team. So when tickets are OK, and balance looks decent, what exactly is the indicator we should be looking for that teams are off?
When I see "nice teams" in chat I'm gonna glance at the names and the ticket count for the other side. But it doesn't convey the information no SLers are giving orders, that no-one wants to play medic, or that there's no communication.
Like nearly all server issues it comes down to people communicating that they need some attention. "Can someone please switch and fly the Hind/man the arty/help us SL/use the armor" is far more informative than "nice teams", and hopefully would be more effective.

TG, gotta love it.
Keep saying how it is. The Admins do. Only by communication can we make the world a better place (never worn Tags but is as TG as the rest of 'em, go figure).
Such posts as these help with the hub of the feeling because all things are in flux and we must keep a handle on them. Thank you. Keep on being wise. Keep on being TG.

I'm cool with that - Gator_skywalker is an excellent, tactical, speaking-up-in-voip squadmate.

That "randomer" wasn't me, was it?? When I had the great idea to take an APC in the water around the island to try to attack from north of the outposts? And then, of course, to find out that there was no way up the cliffs? lol (I usually play as [OSF] MadFF)
I've had a lot of fun playing with you 3DGN folks... good tactical players who still have a good time!
As to the "team stacking"... almost every time it comes down to well-coordinated squads when I've played on TG servers. When coordinated, the side I've been on has beaten the other team, even when the other team is loaded with squaded-up TG members. Conversely, my side has been destroyed when we've had no squad coordination.
Try not to let it frustrate you if your team is losing... there are no ranks or stats (thank God!), so you don't have to "worry" about that aspect of it. Even if my team is not doing well, I look at it as successful if my squad gets one or more objectives during the game. It's all in how you look at things.
See you on the Battlefield!
