We seem to have a pretty good number of new players on the server so I thought a thread on basic tactics might be appropo. Plus, lately I have noticed that a few regulars are not doing a good job of the following so I thought I would remind everyone of two basic, but crucial tactics.

Tactic 1: Spot before shooting. To put it simply, if you fire and miss and then are shot, you are opening a hole in your defense of a flag and no one but possibly your own squad knows that whole is open. But if you spot then shoot, then entire team becomes aware of at least one person making a run on your flag. Medics will look up and see who shot you on the other team and can make a good judgement call on the threat level. So get your purple heart and spot before shooting.

Tactic 2: Cover your teammates back side. I cannot tell you how many times I have been defending a flag lately looking one way with a teammate behind me and I get killed. I expect that teammate to at least do tactic 1, but more importantly kill the the guy who is approaching me from behind. Yet consistently the player sits by as an enemy walks past and kills me. If you have ever played against the 12th, you know that if you do kill one, expect bullets to hit you soon afterwards. They utilize tactics 1 and 2 very effectively and bring the noise when you shoot at one of the guys in their squad. It is a basic, but very effective tactic.
