Home Server
Hi All.
I want to run a server from home. Promlem is, I can get it to run on Local with no problems, its when I try to go out side, I have the server set to DMZ and all ports as far as I am aware are open, however when I run probes it tells me the are closed, they are open in the router as well, so I am at a loss.
The server is a Windows 2003 4g mem 2,9ghz 1T Hdd,
Router is a netgear rangemax
Is there a list of ports? or a iptable script.
Anyone done this before that maybe able to help.

Re: Home Server
What exactly do you want to do with this server? Host a game, or just be able to access it from outside (remote desktop)?

Re: Home Server
I want to be able to host the server so myself and 5 others from outside can join.

Re: Home Server
Oh cool a POE2 server? I have a server set up, just let me know exactly what it is that you want to run and the details of your hardware. Hardware specs, router, modem, ISP and things like that. You can feel free to PM me if you prefer. Or better yet, hit me up on yahoo messenger. My s/n is Mr5hawn.

Router is a netgear rangemax
ISP is nildram.net
I know my outside IP
I can post or send you the server setting or even if you have teamview 3 you can log in and have a look see if you so wish. We could use TS to talk.
I dont use Yahoo , only have MSN .

Re: Home Server
Yea I think my server just went down yay. I cant connect to it. since I have a dynamic IP it may be better to search for it by name "MrShawn305 TS Server"
Ill check it here in a minute as Im about to go home for lunch.
Probably the little girl got to it and started messing with it. (18 months)

Re: Home Server
I run a 2142 server from home for the 55th's Practice Server, off my Vista DVR.
Ghostwall resolved my issue of not having enough available routes in the Linksys to open the necessary ports. So I just DMZ the DVR's IP, configured the necessary ports in Ghostwall, and all is well."But way back where I come from, we never mean to bother. Re: Home Server
nice. I just pretty much configured the router with a dmz and it works fine for me. It also depends on your modem. Sometimes you can set the modem to bridged mode, if you have the option that is always better. Then you just set up the login info in the router. As for ports, if you in the DMZ you should not need to open up any ports. Then you just set a ddns account in your router and all is well!
