Squad/Esquadra/L'audace

Squad owned Orel, Esquadra rocked Rivne, and L'audace capped out Kharkhiv. I had the pleasure of leading all three. Bandanna, Warren, Rhino, Spooky, and Red Dog 7 were all in attendance in a kind of floating rotation. Also present for the first two was S3xy zook's kid, who made a fine accounting of himself. He's better at revives then most of the jobbers. Big shout out to shotcha for the commanding in all three rounds. We had some ggs. Fun times to all.

Good to hear, Britt. There were some good rounds tonight- I had fun on Fallen and Carpathian- I just caught the end of Kharkhiv, so that doesn't count for me.

Oh man, sounds like I missed out on some fun. I didn't even realize the server filled up on Sundays. I was watching the Steelers game and then afterwards I ran 2 miles because I ate 15 cookies today. I guess I'll check the action out next Sunday. Ya know we could use a mod night or somethin to get some more people in (not to mention they're fun also).

Props to you guys and whoever else played on your side last night. I think my side lost like 4 in a row. You guys really dug in on Church on Orel, nice job. You guys seemed to be everywhere.

All credit goes to shotcha really. He'd spot out you guys, and I'd shift the whole squad. I spent a good portion of the game just dropping markers and watching everyone run to fill the holes. Then if you decided to run up to Church we'd charge up there, kill you, and charge back down to cover Church again.

I'm telling you, a commander is a absolutely crucial on those little three flag maps with low server population. Commander covers the back flag, spots enemies, and calls in the one squad he has when they make a major push against the back flag. It happened the same way on Kharkiv. Some people tried to take Towers, so we spawned there and went through them before taking Druha.

Yeah, he served me up a C4 sandwich at Lumber on Orel. Off the xmas list.

You might go so far as to say that the CO vanillafies the small maps.

That's maybe a little bit strong. Vanilla would be UAV up over Church the whole game long, and shotcha holding his arty in reserve to kill people at the Lumbermill.

Personally my take is that 5 v 5 should be a center flag only kind of deal. It's just annoying to do the flag cap merry go round when there is less then a full squad per side. I find that tight battles over one flag the whole map fascinating, simply because good squads will find unorthodox attack angles and creative defensive strategies.

Re: Squad/Esquadra/L'audace

I remember playing 3 flag maps before with few people on the TG server, and we would mutually agree to only attack one flag, like Snake Eyes 16p. We agreed to just fight for middle flag, and that makes those rounds much more fun.

Those work good when 100% agree. Alot of times it doesnt happen though, some nublet jumps in...won't answer on squad chat or ignores the chat text and here we go...back flags.

Re: Squad/Esquadra/L'audace

Maybe hijacking, but have we ever tried doing the 16 player maps with uncaps for back flags? I've heard that mentioned before, the concern over having all 3 flags cappable - it ends quickly, etc. That would promote just fighting over one flag. I would guess most people would rather have all 10 or 12 or 14 players fighting over one flag.

Re: Squad/Esquadra/L'audace

First Snow was kinda fun last night with 3 flags and few people. each had UCB, but... having more than 1 flag made it tough to just sit on a flag. we fought most of the time over the bridge flag, but it really added something when someone would try to go get gas, or they pushed to take the flag closest to our ucb. having 5 guys abandon a flag, and race back to the one closest their ucb, was fun.

I love blasting Jeep CJs over snow pedal to the floor trying to get to the undefended flag, except when I jump out of the jeep and hit a wall. boo on me.

If this is possible, I think it is a great idea to try.
