yeah, everybody has their own opinion on what maps should run.

The last time the map vote was made, i believe it was voting for your 5 favorite infantry-ish and 5 favorite air maps. it didn't seem to make an obvious delineation between what maps people wanted and those they didn't want. There are just too many good ones.

I faced a similar problem when my wife and I were trying to decide on a name for our baby. We made a list of all the names we liked, but every time we tried to pare down that list, we couldn't decide. There were a lot of names on the list we liked, but it seemed that we just couldn't agree on the best ones.

So what we ended up doing was taking turns eliminating the name we liked the least. I don't know why, but that was a much easier task, and we arrived at a name we both liked very quickly.

With that in mind could we have a vote on which map we would like to see removed? The only problem with this is that I would not want to see the map authors get offended if one of the maps they worked so hard on got the boot. (hard on, he he )

Anyway thats my random babble on the map vote. I'm off to play some POE

    Re: PoE now

Without a doubt we will all have a different take on what maps we like or dislike. The difficult issue about creating a perfect map vote poll is the limitation of the polling feature to only allow a maximum of 15 choices per poll. There is no way around it. That is the max allowed.

If I recall correctly, there are 33-34 POE maps right now. That is why I had to come up with a way to divide them. I would agree that some people would vote all 10 in infantry or conversely all 10 for air/vehicle maps. To appeal to all players, that is the best thought I had at the time to cover both sides. Approximately the same amount of maps fell into each poll.

The end result was that it forced players to make some hard choices to try and boil it down to their absolute favorites on each side. Just because some maps did not get votes does not mean that they are not liked, just not in a player's top 5. The end result: you can look at both polls and see the "POE player's top 10 maps" (5 infantry and 5 air/vehicle) that are common to all the players that voted in those particular polls.

The interesting thing was that all of those maps were already playing in the rotation at that time along with others. That is why I understand what Khaerus said about adjusting the maps on the fly at times based on server population. Even if we find the "perfect mix" of maps it will get old after a while for those of us that play them all the time. Tweaking them more frequently may help.

Ticket count is another tough one. You could argue both sides of that one. It usually is a problem when we are on the wrong side of the war and they cannot get lost fast enough. It may also be more noticeable with low player counts. I have not thought much about our count on POE because it always seemed like enough to account for the attack/defend counterbalance of the many battles that make up the war. A team has to cumulatively play well to win, not just one or two random acts. The other side of that is too few. Some of us have been playing AIX here and there and the rounds seem to be over before they ever get going. Strategy and tactics seem to have nothing to do with victory. When teams are reasonably balanced our POE ticket count seems OK, IMO.

We are all in the same boat on this one. We want this mod to continue to thrive. If anyone has thoughts on how to do a better map poll based on the 15 choice max, feel free to PM me. I can discuss it with the Admin team and we can see if there is another way to capture the likes/dislikes of the loyal player base.

Well i think if everyone who wants to see POE stay we have to go out and get people to play. Post in fourms again tell them to come check us out. I know there has to be alot of people out there like us that hate bunny hopping , but if they don't know we are here they are not going to look for us.

Bring a freind day lol>>> ,... If we all got one person to going and play our server would be full. We can play with ticket counts and maps ect all day but if they don't know we are here they won't come.

Mr.McFeelme - I think you should name your next Kid Orrel.

    Or ThaGoat.

    Or Goartorrel.

Let me know if your wife and yourself would like to meet with me to discuss other name ideas.

Fallen 24/7.....yum yum. I'm getting a bit tired of playing Dnister River Valley EVERY time I get on the server. I'd be nice if the first map in the maplist was changed. And what's funny is we never have this problem in PR. I think its because the admins are strict over there. While PoE admins are much more relaxed in terms of maps.

I mean usually the PR admins are a bit more "This is how it is" kind of stuff. While PoE admins listen to the crowd a bit more. Its not an insult to either group, its just an observation on my part.

Dev software? Which part? We use a slew of tools to make the game from 3DMax, PS, Terragen, BF2 Editor, and other general editor utilities for coding. For mapping I use PS, Terragen, the BF2 Editor to name a few but also did a lot of coding with various editors... even notepad!
