Nice to see the 3GN and [hogs] crews out last night. We also had a few new faces. Good games.

Re: PoE now
do you think reducing ticket counts would help hold the server population?
I kinda do. If a map is unbalanced, or happens to be a map that a lot of people on the server don't like, i think people disconnect from the server because the maps take so long.
I know I did not like the big ticket counts when I first started playing POE. I have been playing long enough that it doesn't bother me anymore. But for more casual players it could be a turn off.
My only reason for posting this question is that i want to see this server and this mod continue to flourish.

That's actually something that we already do every once in a while, sometimes without even mentioning it to the server. I might play with it some more if it seems like it might help. In the tough times, the fast and furious maps do seem to do better...
For the most part, we try to manage the ebb-and-flow as it happens- we try not to let imbalanced maps load up in seed times, or if a losing team is gonna get the disadvantaged side, etc. We watch all the server chat, of course, and we pay attention to what the server seems to want and would enjoy playing, especially while trying to draw the start-up crowd. The trick, of course, is making it all as seamless as possible while keeping the most players engaged and keeping a decent rotation.

Forgetting? PoE?..... Why you'd be drawn and quartered by the church a few centuries ago Mister Vertically Challenged Footie PJ Guy for such Satanist Comments.
I think the constant use of the shovel has "dumbed" your sense of whats good and whats even better. I know myself as others, when in another mod, we are "CHECKING" the PoE server whilst we run and gun. We may have to underwing you again and get you back on the right path lil man....I've grounded my kids from their console games for less, Mister Death Dozer of the Enemy Mines.....
Maybe you need to go to "Veaaa - Gas" and have Counter "whack" you a coupla times with that cast of his...hehhe

I'm not sure if the ticket count is the root issue. As the versions have been released the number of maps has multiplied greatly. Some are gems, some are not. However, a good chunk end up in the rotation. This leads to less overall familiarity(outside of the hardcore players). Everyone has personal preferences and styles of play they enjoy, but there are a few maps that the vast majority seem to enjoy and they have been so spread out in the rotation( at least in the recent past) that people disconnect and sometimes don't come back on because they don't want to spend the next 2 hours waiting for an enjoyable time.
I think there is less burnout and more overload or underwhelming with the number of maps combined with the number of tickets, but that just my humble opinion.

Re: PoE now
Hi Everyone
I guess this is the right post to ask a question is POE going to add some of the AIX Ideas?
I'm sure that will start a discussion but I think it should only add in the beginning the zip cord and climbing hook would add some new and still keep the old ways just give some other ways to get around.
I'm not even sure what it would take to put this two items in but I hate to see POE on TG just set alot of nights.
Any Ideas.

Grapples and Zip lines, Thats a great idea as it just opens up so many new options, especially on existing maps. thats the best thing about AIX, imo. But for some reason I don't see devs re-writing the game for it at this point Until maybe POE3.

I have to agree, nothing kills the server more than the maps that are "not". Some maps come on and half the server disappears, just when it was building up and getting good. And the exact opposite when a awsome map comes on, it fills right up. IMO TG should pick only the top maybe 10 maps as rated in JB4 posts a while back, and nix the rest for now: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...ote-1-2-a.html http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...ote-2-2-a.html
or maybe a new vote?

i don't think ticket counts are the source of all problems either. but i think changing the ticket count is a pretty quick, easy and reversible change. (i think?)
I'm enjoying this mod as much as i ever did, so I'm just trying to throw out some ideas that might be attractive to newcomers or those who aren't playing as much these days.
If changing the map rotation would help, i'm all for it.

For the easy, as-needed method, you are correct- it's a quick manual alteration for the round.
We also manually change the map rotation every night, depending on circumstances- it's rare that the rotation goes through more than a few maps without admin adjustments, and we rebuild the main list fairly often anyway. However, I can assure you that no matter what map we run, someone will have a different opinion on what map we should be running, lol. It's no problem- we do try to keep a lot of things in consideration, though, and keeping a populated server is obviously a huge one.
The 'map vote' night has been suggested before- I think we can try that. We'll make some plans.
