Where do we go from here?
Fellow poe2 diehards, I think we have reached a point where we need to adapt to our situation. Our server is not doing too good - you know this, I know this. Everyone hates to see it but it was going to happen at some point. I would like to see everyone stay positive and not devolve into the blame game over why the server is in the state it is. Things have been a bit better lately but a week or two ago there was some frustration slipping out.(hint: no one is at fault!) We have a tight community here and if we can stay positive and focus our play I think we can keep things active here for quite a while longer.
Going forward we are thinking about limiting gameplay nights. Limiting play to focus play if you will. Instead of less than 20 players on every night we can focus our participation around certain days and hopefully get back to a higher population with improved quality of play. The number of nights is something we can talk about but my initial thoughts were 2-3 with another day for events.(next paragraph) Less playtime but at higher quality may even bring more participation in as a more consistent high level of play can attract some players that were reluctant to commit previously.
The admins are also committed to ramping up events. Biweekly scrims and other events(nuke, crazy mod stuff) on some of the off weeks are being talked about. A specific weekend afternoon would likely be the day for these events.
So I am looking for feedback on this potential direction from all elements of the poe2 community. Those who still try to play every night and those who have mostly moved on but still have a desire for the good old days. Keep it constructive and on topic.Last edited by FBmantis; 03-02-2009 at 05:13 PM. Reason: spelling

Re: Where do we go from here?
Not that my opinion holds much merit, but...
I think scheduled events are the way to go... nothing wrong with a little organization and planning to help fill up the server. Obviously, the server won't be full every night these days, but scheduled events will certainly bring many PoE2 fans together.
Somehow the word has to get beyond these forums to let people know there is an "event" going on. They would need catchy titles too..
TG's Frag 'em and Bag 'em night! or something similar..
Can you get your own banner ad in the mix at the top of these forums?? A little advertising couldn't hurt either!

Re: Where do we go from here?
That would be awesome for me. I only get on a couple times a week, and usually miss the big nights.
If I knew when they were, I'd have a much better chance of being there.
Hopefully 2 of those 3 nights are on weekdays.

Re: Where do we go from here?
I think your going in the right direction. Tuesday and Friday nights perhaps? Tuesday, because the 6thMD usually shows up and they add a nice dimension to the game. Friday, well cause thats the most popular as of now. I hope im not taking this in the wrong direction but, we, as a community, need to really look at some of the 16p maps.

Re: Where do we go from here?
If we organise some events and bring in people from other games here, this may breathe more life into the old girl again.

Re: Where do we go from here?
Based on the poll results we could look at Friday-Sunday-Tuesday. Maybe Sunday could be for events?
I play on a couple of semi-tactical vanilla servers some, is there a proper way to let those folks know about our nights once you decide? I actually see a few TG people on those servers from time to time.
As to the map size, I would think we should try real hard to use the 32p maps if possible, they seem to help.
This is good discussion to have, hopefully we can do something to improve the POE play.

I love this mod!! I agree with HiTest's response. This better not die! I haven't been on this weekend because I'm working NASCAR, but will be right back in it as of this Monday!

Re: Where do we go from here?
I love this mod as well. My play days are limited, and I'm all for trying to aim for Tuesday and Friday. I could aim for these days as well.

Re: Where do we go from here?
I like the idea of a schedule I recall a server schedule of the past. I poke at the serve often only to find nobody home. Then I have to unload and start AXI and try to find a crew there and dont get much luck. I am open schedule wise Sun/Fri/Tuesday is good but maybe thats to many nights seeing how slow it is. Maybe start with 2 nights for those who can only make one?????

Re: Where do we go from here?
Tuesday is a great day for me. Although I still believe some tweaking of maps would help some during non official days.

Re: Where do we go from here?
I say we start with pre-planned map lists for the popular nights like tomorrow. An imbalanced/bad map can really empty things out.

Re: Where do we go from here?
Tuesday and Friday sounds great. We'll also do an organized scrim this Sunday. I'll post a signup for that tonight.
OPS, the bacon is on you.
