Schedule is official - help get the word out

What we need now is everyones help in spreading the word to the larger BF/poe2 community. Over the next week or two the server will still be up 7 days a week. Absolutely make Tues,Fri a priority but if you have extra playing nights then continue showing up on those nights over this 'grace' period. We need you to use this time to alert server regulars who don't visit our forum. Let them know we are moving to Tuesdays and Fridays and let them know that they should visit our forum often to participate in events. Eventually this grace period will be gone and we want all players to understand why our server will be turned off the majority of the week.
Also lets try to contact groups or clans that maybe we haven't heard from much lately but made solid contributions to our server and the quality of play. Pass on the schedule and invite them to show up. We all can probably think of different names that fit this role so go ask for their support.
Last night and last friday we saw what we can do with just the chatter in this forum. Now imagine what we can do if we all make an effort to get the word out. Make it happen fellas and I bet we see a full server.Last edited by FBmantis; 03-13-2009 at 06:00 AM.

"Eventually this grace period will be gone and we want all players to understand why our server will be turned off the majority of the week." I don't know about this.It just seems to me we will lose more this way.Players will see the server down 5 days a week and think we are gone for good.I know some nights no one is on but most nights there is a small group still playing.

Re: Schedule is official - help get the word out
I agree 100%. How is shutting down the server 5 days a week going to help anything? The people on all week are the ones playing Tuesday and Friday as well, shutting the server isn't going to make them duplicate. We have good rounds almost every night and people are going to forget about the mod and server if it is not there reminding them every night. Let those of us that do play have our fun 7 nights a week if we want.
I only jumped on the server for maybe 45 min tonight and the population went from 1 to 15 in that amount of time. That is enough for good games.

That was the direction I was leaning but the decision was not made yet. Feel free to discuss it. I think at some point that will happen on its own - if not soon then down the line.

I will more than likely make an appearance on Friday Evening.
Surely, in my role as 'Broad Side of a Barn' for those who might imbibe.
heck, I might even break out some Harpoon Celtic Ale for the occasion. Pack up your rigs and come on up to the North Cabin

I'm also interested in the thinking behind shutting it down the other 5 days. Is the thought this would result in larger Tuesdays and Fridays? Is this an unused server resource issue? An admin coverage issue?
We currently have an empty FH2 server, and Vanilla server that both get less traffic than the poe2 server. They have had for a while now and are you considering removing these as well?
One thing to consider is using server messages during the week to promote Tuesday and Fridays nights, which I imagine we are already doing.
I'm all about promoting Tuesday and Fridays as the main gaming nights, we had some great rounds Tuesday with 40+ plus players. But I'm not following the downside to having the server up the other 5 days, even if it was completely empty during that time.

Re: Schedule is official - help get the word out
Ok fellas you can forget the grace period talk. I won't promise any of our BF servers will last forever but certainly as long as there is activity/demand it would make sense to leave the lights on. Forcing the schedule sounded like a good idea to me at the time but your comments here and privately have proved that was a hasty idea. I think the significance of doing that was lost on me because I haven't been around poe2 much this year. I have become a bit detached with all my travels in the future and being left for dead so the impact of such a move just didn't register.
So if we can lets shift back to more positive talk and working on getting the word out about our preferred nights. Make these two nights a huge roaring success and maybe it will bleed into the other nights.|TG-12th|mantis

Re: Schedule is official - help get the word out
I'll be out tonight, but hopefully we'll get some guys to write up some AAR action about the inevitably furious games to come tonight. If you ever wanted to try your hand at story-telling, this would be a great time to go for it. We've got some guys here who do it all the time; give them a hand and write one yourself, or add your notes in a thread that someone else starts!
OPS, the bacon is on you.

Re: Schedule is official - help get the word out
Should we maybe try for a regular start time? Maybe 5-6pm EST, 10-11pm GMT?
