How to get BF2 patch 1.5 beta going --- without messing up POE2


BF2 1.5 beta is out (1.3gb)

BF2 1.5 beta is not compatible with POE2 that runs on 1.41

If you install this on your regular BF2 game then you will not be able to uninstall and will have to wipe BF2 and start again

... solution is ...
  • goto C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2
  • copy the whole of the 'Battlefield 2' folder and rename it 'Battlefield 2 1.41' (can take 15 mins to copy)
  • then run the beta patch (1.3Gb) , it applies to the folder 'Battlefield 2' and leaves the folder 'battlefield 2 1.41' alone
  • you can now try the beta map
  • when you want to go back to PR then rename the folders
  • rename 'Battlefield 2' to 'Battlefield 2 1.5'
  • rename 'Battlefield 2 1.41 ' to 'Battlefield 2'
  • the desktop shortcut will now run POE2 again
  • you can then rename folders to switch between games, the desktop shortcut always points at the folder 'Battlefield 2'

Until the final 1.5 is out, do not update bf2.

The patch really sucks. And too bad, they didn't create the option to un-install the patch, which I noticed after patching.

So I'm screwed now, gotta completely un-install BF and all expansions and re-install it.

BTW,
Can anyone help me with my controls? I fly my jet with keyboard and mouse, might sound noob, but I'm happy with it. ^^ Though, since this new patch I'm not able to use my arrow-keys any longer to make loopings and stuff. Can anyone help me with this problem?

You dont need to copy evertyhing in your mods folder, just the bf2 content.
Also you might want to make a different profile to play the patch, or your default one will be messed up because of the falcon bug.
