Hey mantis why not rotate all maps?
Hey Mantis how many maps are possible availible for rotation? Why not put them all in? I dont know about everyone else but I would be up for even the vanilla maps. Anything to add some level of change.
Thanks for the reply!

Re: Hey mantis why not rotate all maps?
If its in the mappack(which the vanilla maps are) it will only be played on preannounced nights. The quality of the maps are just not worth the player loss when we need all the players we can get these days.
It is also not easy to find the mappack for the average user as I don't believe it is linked anywhere on the poe2 site anymore.

Re: Hey mantis why not rotate all maps?
Once the new/final patch of BF2 comes out and the POE2 team makes their final release, what are the chances of them just including the map pack maps in the final download so no one runs into that player loss problem anymore while having the maximum number of maps available for rotation?

Re: Hey mantis why not rotate all maps?
We have no plans on releasing another PoE2 version unless there is issues with the forecoming Bf2 patch.
We are however working on one final version of PoE1

Okay, well IF there are issues with the new patch, can ya include the map packs in the download so there's not a subset of players that drop out of the server when we try to play all the maps?

For us to do that we'd have to go over the maps in that pack and make sure they're up to PoE standards, so to say. Would also mean a new test run of the maps. I'm sorry to say, but it's not going to happen.
We're done with Bf2, and are now working on our next amazing project - stay tuned

How about you just do it, and then let the community that plays/supports your mod and "put you on the map" so to speak decide if they're up to standards?

Re: Hey mantis why not rotate all maps?
How about YOU just do it then?
It's never "just do it" when it comes to modding Bf2, plus we're sort of anal about the quality of the work we put out there with our name on it. Releasing those maps as a map pack allowed for the best of both for us.
All I know is that I don't have the time to git it done. I can run this by the others in the team, but don't get your hopes up.

"Just do it"? lol
you know how much work that would take?
I'm fully agreed with Seig here, not going to happen.

Re: Hey mantis why not rotate all maps?
The map pack is available for a download still in many places.
There are several issues but to go over a few here again. We do not own the contents of the map pack. We do not touch those maps. It was simply a way for us to help promote the fans out there promoting us.
With letting no good deed go unpunished, we got a barrage of complaints about errors in the maps from that pack with demands that WE fix it. It was a huge hassel for us in short with a lot of headaches and it was not even our work. It was just our attempt to support the community.
The map pack is still out there and people are welcome to download and play it. Servers can choose to run it but not everyone has the pack. But the maps for the reasons mentioned above will never be included in officially in PoE. I am sorry it is that way but it is how it must be.

And therein lies the problem. In order to maintain maximum playerbase at all times in a mod that already struggles to maintain interest at the current time, no server is going to run the map pack because only a subset of the players have it. It would not be in their best interests to do so.
Solution: Include it with the download as part of POE2 if there needs to be another version to fix any patching issues with the new upcoming BF2 patch. Everyone who plays POE2 will therefore have access to all the available maps for POE2. Servers won't be hesitant to run map pack maps due to fear of half the players dropping out. Note that they are provided as-is, as unofficial maps, and may be included or excluded from map rotations on servers as admins see fit to avoid any issues with errors.
Bottom line: No one is asking anyone to do any more work. Simply let the servers themselves decide which maps to put in the rotation based on feedback from the players about errors, etc. The more maps available, the more variety available, and the more interest can be maintained. Give the server admins the tools (i.e. a wider variety of maps) to combat reduced interest. I would expect you all didn't pour your blood, sweat, and tears into POE2 to just let it fizzle out. I would expect you are motivated to prolong the lifespan as much as possible. Here's a way to do that.
