Re: Point of Existence 11/18/2005 Update
I'm really impressed by the quality of the new models and map scenery. Everything that I've seen looks as professional as we could hope for. I just hope they top it off with some great map designs that play well.

Re: Point of Existence 11/18/2005 Update
Well, the PoE team has locked the content for the v0.1 release, and they're now doing internal testing on levels. It looks like they're getting somewhat close to the first release of PoE2!

Re: Point of Existence 11/18/2005 Update
More info on mobile arty is included with the PoE update for 01/19/2006. I wonder how this mobile arty will actually work in the game.
Here is a list (by Vestalis) of some of what the PoE developers are working on for PoE2: Russia MIG-31 2S1 M-1974 Gvodikza T-55 Agm SA-7 KORD SA-5 PB6P9 Pistol Binoculars America AH-6 Little Bird M1A2 Abrams AAVP7A1 M240 D XM312 Benelli M4 Super 90 FN SCAR M9 Beretta Binoculars Ukraine Mig-25M Foxbat Su-24M Fencer Su-25 Frogfoot Mi-24 PN/V 2S1 M-1974 Gvodikza T-84-120 Oplot T-55 Agm Shilka BMP-2 Kliver BMP-1 MT-LB with mounted ZU-23 Flak SA 13 MT-LB Transporter Dozor-B UAZ 3151 RPG 7 SA-7 KORD AK-47 Toz-194 NTW-20 PP-2000 9x39 mm AS "Val" PB6P9 Pistol AK-74 Bayonet Msta - B ZU-23 Flak SA-5 P-35 BAR LOCK radar Germany Tornado Eurofighter 2000 Eurocopter Tiger NH-90 Transport Helicopter Panzerhaubitze 2000 Leopard 2A6 Gepard A2 GTK Boxer Wiesel MK20 Wiesel Motar Wiesel Ozelot Wiesel TOW Panzerfaust 3 Fliegerfaust2 MG3 LMG-36 G-36 mit AG-36 G-36C G36 G-36K G-36C (silenced) MP7 MSG-90 Grenades P8 Kampfmesser 2000 Binoculars Non-Military Weapons PSG-1 SL8 I imagine the US and Russia will use updated objects already created for PoE1. On the PoE forums you can actually see renders and other associated information for each of the items listed above. Last edited by Strag; 01-20-2006 at 09:35 AM. |

Re: Point of Existence 11/18/2005 Update
I can't imagine any artillary, mobile or otherwise, would really be able to be brought to bear on at ranges within the size of a BF2 map. I thought that'd be more mortar close in arty support's job. I guess it's nothing new considering the BF2 howitzers but they always seemed silly to me as well I suppose. ANy of you military buffs know definitively?

Re: Point of Existence 11/18/2005 Update
Yeah, I'd say arty is actually more suited to a game like OFP, with its huge map sizes. But, I'll never forget my first game of BF2 when the arty came screaming down from the sky for the first time and blew my guy 50 feet in the air. It may not be very realistic/practical, but it IS fun.

Re: Point of Existence 11/18/2005 Update
Looking exceedingly good, if I do say so myself. Those new vehicle shots on the front page look just as good as BF2's regular vehicles.

Re: Point of Existence 11/18/2005 Update
More goodies from the PoE team are up this week for the 02/02/2006 PoE Update, including a movie clip showing the T-84 tank in action. Of note, the T-84 can currently fire multiple types of ammo from its main gun, and there is a handy ZOOM feature for the main turret sight. Lots of other new info, as well. Dig it.
