What am I doing wrong?

I've tried to install PoE three times now. When I open the archive, there are two files - the engine and the executable. When I try to install either, I get an error because it can't find the other file.

The answer is probably obvious but I can't get this install to work. What am I doing wrong here?

Make sure they are in the same folder and start the exe. They should be named:

PoE2-v1.0.0.0.exe Filesize: 441,534 KB
PoE2-v1.0.0.0-mappack.cab Filesize: 644,021 KB

One of the files may be corrupt, check the sizes or redownload. Im sure someone else knows what to do if that doesnt work.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

First you want to run the executable not the cab.

Second, I'd check to make sure your files are the right size.

file sizes:
PoE2-v1.0.0.0.exe
431 MB (452,130,297 bytes)

PoE2-v1.0.0.0-mappack.cab
628 MB (659,476,541 bytes)

That's from the Size field in Properties for the files.

If that's ok, I'm not sure what could be wrong.

Turns out it was a driver update issue. I recently updated my ATI driver, and reinstalling the driver fixed everything. Whew.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

A weird error in the installer if that if the partition the files are on is read-only, it won't install the levels. I had to copy the installer from my Linux drive to my Windows one to get it to work...

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Anyone run into the "unexpected end of file" message whilst trying to extract the mappack.cab? I tried the password and winzip and winace but get the same message. Im guessing its a corrupt download though.....

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Jimmy you do not need to extract anything out of the mappack.cab file. Do not even touch that file. Assuming you downloaded the POE2 zip file here at TG, just extract those two files onto your desktop (after you've entered the password) and run the .exe file which is the installer file.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Nah, my problem is getting the mappack.cab file extracted somewhere else. The installer extracts ok but when the mappack is extracting (from the archive) the message kicks in. Im redownloading it from TG now so hopefully that will resolve it.

EDIT: Yep looks like a dodgy DL. Thanks anyway folks.
