Re: Thoughts on PoE:2
I love the mod but would like to play more 32 player maps in euro friendly hours.

Re: Thoughts on PoE:2
Once we they get the "I did not even know my tank was tanking rounds", fixed, things will be better.
I to feel like there is a lot of immersion in the maps.
Manytimes on the battle field there is not much cover, armour support is needed to work with infantry. Smoke screens are essential.
Due to the Low over cast, those gunships and choppers come out of no were and are ever so deadly. However, I well disiplined AA vehicle or gunner should get the job done in bringing them down.
Seems like players have a lot of hit points. But that is good sometimes and bad somtimes depending on who is doing the bullet catching.
I like the maps.(PO3) Marcinko_R. (BF2 PR .509) Squad Member

In a real battle you can always dig a hole
.
I like to play more open maps sometimes, but I feel poe2 has a little too many of them. The Opk maps are actually better imo.
It is a problem with the bf engine as well. If you are far away from an enemy, crawling down a mountain through long grass towards him, he will easily spot you. This is because the grass isn't rendered that far away, and that makes any movement far away very easy to spot. Another factor is that hilltops are lower from far away. This causes people that hide behind the top or on your side of the hilltop float in the air , if you are looking from far away.
These mechanics make some flags extremely hard to attack. Good examples are on the map that has many "farm" flags, surrounded by hills beyond a ring of fields.
More trees and small structures can lessen the problems caused by the engine. What it's like to play online games as a grown-up:http://s3.amazonaws.com/theoatmeal-i...e_gaming/1.jpg

Joint Operations had this same issue at first. If you were 5' away from someone laying in the grass, they were VERY difficult to see. But if they were 500 yards out, they were VERY visible. They eventually fixed it by masking the player with the grass layer. That worked quite well. It would be nice to see the BF2/PoE folks do something similar.

Re: Thoughts on PoE:2
@ Al.
Digging a hole during a Blitz on a enemy position is not practical. Remember many of these maps are doubel assault. Both sides are going to a locatin that has not been prepared for battle.
That brings up another thing. Why can't we have maps were the defender has trenches and fox holes, and tunnels and such. Real grunt conditions i am talking about here.
Sigh, patience Ric.
Ric begins to prepare a greetings Card to Kilrogg so that I can get in good with him to lobby the production of a hard core map that looks like a battlefield.
Good point about the grass problems.(PO3) Marcinko_R. (BF2 PR .509) Squad Member

Re: Thoughts on PoE:2
one of the problems with having a trench system or fox holes is there is no "rest" feature in the game engine. So the players in the trenches who have to stand or kneel aren't as effective as the attackers who can go prone and fire accurately. This isnt as big of an issue for rifle carrying kits but is brutal for support.

Re: Thoughts on PoE:2
A good thing about the game is that it is very forgiving to the team that is of less quality.
I guess on account for things being so spread out, the butt kickens come less often.
