Thoughts on PoE:2

I like it so far. The maps are great IMO. The battles seemed disorganized tonight, but that's to be expected when nobody knows anything about the terrain.

The only thing I would change so far is the crosshairs on the small arms; as in, get rid of them completely (like in Tac Mod). I say iron sights only, and make the small arms fire inaccurately when iron sights aren't used! When games have iron sights for their small arms, I really don't understand the point of leaving crosshairs in. Could one of our BF2 modders remove the crosshairs?

I'm looking forward to more TG PoE:2 action!

Re: Thoughts on PoE:2

Two technical issues: I experienced more cases of the IFF bug tonight than ever before. I'm not sure if this is because of the mod, or the server or just a run of bad luck, but it did get to be quite irritating.

Secondly, did anyone else notice that it was a lot, well, harder to enter vehicles (for a lack of a better word)? I had to press the E key repeatedly to get in/out, and holding it down didn't seem to work.

Besides that...great stuff!

Re: Thoughts on PoE:2

I had a lot of fun tonight.

First off, apologies to Thundeer, my SL for most of the night. He was pretty quiet, and when I was driving a tank, I could not hear a thing, so I probably made a few blunders. Great job Sl'ing though, defending the crash site on fallen was awesome, love that map. I too noticed a lot of the red tag bug, I racked up quite a few teamkill punishes against myself, so sorry to anyone on the wrong end of my barrel. It's definatley a nice change from vanilla, while still staying true to BF:2. I particularly like the arty and the audio of the different weapons. Very well done. My only concern is that the artillery is very deadly against other vehicles at close range, at least I found. It is quite slow though. Overall: pretty darn good.

Munchkin, you actually have to use the door. It doesnt make any sense :P

As for the games they did seem disorganized, but i attribute that LARGLY to absolutly none of the BS COs being kicked. People need to be kicked for breaking our rules, such as not giving orders and neglecting CO duties. I dont see why there wasnt any kicking going on. If we dont get to kicking people for breaking rules, we arent going to appear as different from other servers. We kinda need to make a name for ourselfs again.

The mod has a lot of potential, and player turnout was excellent. I like all of the vehicles, there are some very creative design choices, such as the tank gunner having a TV missile. I find the iron sights hard to use, they're not really open enough and just kind of obstruct your view. Also, the number of red tag bugs was pretty crazy, and sorry to luuser and derdmeh for killing you guys about five times each.

Re: Thoughts on PoE:2

Turnout was very high indeed. I just logged off at 4:30 am EDT and it's still at 46 people.

We will certainly need to step up the adminning quite a bit, given what I saw tonight. Everyone make sure to educate new players in your squads about how we play and what is expected from them. I saw several instances of UCB camping/raping tonight, for instance.

Overall I love the mod so far. There was a ton of air on the maps I played (both winter maps), which I wasn't crazy about, but (finally) using shoulder mounted stingers was pretty sweet. This mod has a lot of potential here.

Re: Thoughts on PoE:2

For me the server was just stuffed full of pubbies and the gameplay was pretty lousy, but I can imagine some good games when that dies down.

Re: Thoughts on PoE:2

Perhaps a silly question, but is the script in place to kick non SMs when the server fills up? I can see us getting 40 SMs (or thereabouts) in the near future during primetime and we'll be able to educate "the new guys" since we'll be in the majority...

I'll definitely log onto the appropriate TS channel and call for an admin if I see something out of line.

Just after 0600 AM EDT and 30 people are on the server...crazy...

Re: Thoughts on PoE:2

During the end, almost no TG'ers were on, it was hectic though. The pubbies from doing their normal arguing with each other about "He TKED me" crap.

Re: Thoughts on PoE:2

It's 12:11 pm GMT and there are six people on the server, three of which are wearing TG tags. I'm going to finish downloading this thing and then jump on.

Re: Thoughts on PoE:2

I liked the game a lot, I didn't like the prone-spamming crap that I kept seeing over and over from the pubbies though.
