They might as well call it the grass mod.

On the contrary Desert Combat should be 50% as resource intensive right?

    Re: Lag

The lag was pretty omnipresent on the last two maps I played (Mountains and Sunrise maps). Huge rubber banding/warping effects were reported by a lot of people. Planes moved thru the sky by teleporting at 1 in. intervals, and vehicles and infantry were jerking around constantly.

I was going to try to set the next map to an infantry only map to see if the vehicles/arty were contributing to the lag, but I couldn't remember the map name.

    Re: Lag

Yesterday Highway to Hell was very laggy with exactly the sort of warping you mentioned. The next map was Orel (i think) an infantry based map. I saw no reports of problems there and it looked fine for me....

Take the arty out of one of these known lag maps for just one round and see if the lag goes away. We can do that with icky's thing right?

Oh, sorry, thought this was one of those build a story threads for a moment. It won't happen again.

    Re: Lag

There was certainly a correlation to the lag and vehicles last night.
My squad and i were experiencing horrible rubber banding and general lag on maps with vehicles ( this was during peak server times with 62 players).....but, ive always been a ground pounder so if/when you guys take out the air power i wont cry

I have 3 gigs of ram and a pretty nice system.....i like to think its not machine related

    Re: Lag

Its related to airpower. I get it on all the maps that feature planes. I don't get it at all on all infantry maps like Fallen. I didn't notice it on the other forest map that has tanks but no planes or helos. I know its not client lag (at least in my case) because the smoke trails from the planes do some funky things, which means my client is rendering every frame but only getting updates irregularly (rubber banding/teleporting). I played a game late last night with 24 odd players on the server, and it was smooth. There's probably load factors too.

    Yes and No.

Yes if it was on there and worked with PoE.

No, since it isn't and doesn't.

But ya, I can yank the arty out of a map manually to see if it changes anything.

    Re: Lag

I only get lag on big maps with lots of vehicles, aka more than half of em. I don't lag on infantry maps or no-air maps.

And this is server lag btw not client lag.

    Re: Lag

I played on OGV's server earlyer today to see if the lag was less than TGs. The difference was huge. I could actually play the game in the larger maps with armor. There was still some lag, but it was playable. The majority of the maps on TG are hardly playable. The lag might still stem from artillery or armor, but it seems that it only makes it slightly worse on other servers where it makes it almost unplayable on ours.

EDIT: The small amount of lag i was experiencing on OGV's server could be because i had terrain on medium because you cant load gaurdian without the settings up. For all i know there is no lag on their server. I also didnt hear anyone complaining about lag in text, but on TGs server everybody is.

    Re: Lag

Well we need to differenciate client lag and server lag here. The problem with the server(s) is server lag, aka people warping around even though ping is normal. Everyone gets it. Client lag is just related to graphics settings (fps) and has no impact on the gameplay of anyone but you.

    Re: Lag

As said in other threads, this is being addressed. Our new server should be ready to rock today.

I will say that addressing this problem is quite difficult with the amount of exaggeration that goes on. I've played many rounds of PoE2 and have not had this brutal unplayable lag with any consistancy. I get some lag on some maps, but not on others. And yes, this is with a full server.

I've also not been able to find "everyone" complaining about lag.

Please people, try and be accurate with these reports and don't fill in the gaps by saying "everyone" or "all" unless you are absolutely sure that 64 out of 64 people had the problem. If 23 out of 64 people were having the problem, that may seem like a lot, but it's certainly not "everyone".

Diplomacy is the art of saying "good doggie" while looking for a bigger stick.
