Re: Here's where to hit a tank, PoE2-style
Another thing you guys need to consider:
1. The RPG-like ness of the new AT kits means the tanks DO NOT get a lock on alarm. You get a free hit without the tank even knowing of your existence.
2. All ground vehicles have had their rear camera removed. If the turret isn't facing you, there is no sneaky camera that he can spot you with. I don't know about you guys, but it sounds to me like the ol C4 on the side will be quite a bit easier to do.

Building on that, BHack, I'd love to see the third person view removed entirely. I suppose removing the rear-view is a nice start, but he can still see you when you're really close.

Re: Here's where to hit a tank, PoE2-style
That is if the tank is close enough. I find the AT a much interesting kit to play with in PoE2, as now you can be a bit covert (no alarm) and you actually need some skill to hit anything mid-long range (not guided and shell drop off). I find the AT kit works even better when supressing/defending aginest armor now especially with mines.

Re: Here's where to hit a tank, PoE2-style
I am shocked by the angle thing. I knew this was in BF1942, but I thought it was removed from BF2. If it WAS removed from BF2, I have a hard time believing that PoE2 has found a way to modify the damage system. Unless they implemented it in BF2 and then turned it off because of performance impact...

Re: Here's where to hit a tank, PoE2-style
I have been hit MANY times, even from sabot rounds, and have them completely deflect and not do any damage to me. It was a rarety in vanilla, but it seems to happen about 10% of the time in poe. Ive also hit tanks and not gotten the hit indication mark. Either thats part of the system, or it was just the lag we were experiencing.

Re: Here's where to hit a tank, PoE2-style
icky, deflection is in BF2. I have fired tank shells, and have had tank shells fired at me, that simply bounced off.

Re: Here's where to hit a tank, PoE2-style
To add onto Tycho's comment. Only through Deflection was it possible to get the 1 shot Tank kill in BF2. You bounced a shot off of the forward armor to have it hit a second time into the turret. Very difficult, but allowed for quick 1 shot Tank Kills. Willing to bet something similar is possible with POE2.

Re: Here's where to hit a tank, PoE2-style
Funny that people never talked about this when describing damage in BF2. In BF1942, it was a hot topic, and AT rounds were always carefully lined up to get a 90 degree hit on the rear of tanks. Maybe it was just because doing so could give you a 1-hit kill in BF1942.

For other people's knowledge. It was also in reference to Tank vs. Tank, but I think AT rockets could be deflected along the same lines.

From the thread on PoE.com:
So yes, off-angle shots do less damage. I'm not sure if deflected rounds are actually animated, though. I've never seen a shot "bounce off", in any case.

I was referring to BF2 vanilla. Sorry for the confusion.
