Well its not so much that the satellite view you get from the spot is large, but simply having it means that whenever you fire, you see the entire flight of the projectile. Since you can see from the satellite which towns, friendlys, and mountains the projectile is going over, it makes it easier to adjust your aim. So if you dont see ANY red artillery symbols on the map, just aim randomly and itll help the arty guy a lot. Its better to have a spot exactly where he will be artying, but its not worth it to walk 3 miles to get that spot and have him just sit there.

Re: How to spot for arty

    good point Santa.

I do not believe the arty squad needs spotters. One guy in the squad is enough.

The CO should get feed back that his arty guy needs some spotting at such place.
The infantry, being in the area fixing to attack a position, or in a chopper, or were ever should get a picture if possible.

    Spec ops
    assault
    Sniper

If a infantry squad that is behind enemy lines or close to enemy lines does not have this kit, well the arty guy is out of luck.

Here the CO can help out with their zoom function.

I was practicing today and man it takes no time to line your shots up.

I'll go back to the arty use thread to start posting how the CO and arty Guy will communicate to walk the strikes to were they need to be.
Remember, it is bad form for the CO to be in the arty cause both jobs need full time attention.

    Missed this thread...

The CO can't possibly do his CO duties properly while operating the arty properly, so the combination is not going to be allowed on the TG servers.

The system of spotting for arty remains very important.
    Peace through fear... since 1947!
