    Arty Idea

I've been thinking of a creative way to use the arty in a flag attack. It would basically involve a full squad- 1 person in the arty, 2 people dedicated to a transport helo (pilot and the arty spotter in the doorway) and the other 3 people as a fast attack fire team. You would designate a flag to attack and the helo would proceed forward. The helo would make an initial pass and the spotter would mark the spot for artillery. Once arty starts dropping on the flag radius, the helo would drop off the fire team outside the area to move on the flag and provide overhead support outside the flag radius.. all while arty is incoming. The helo would also be there to make sure the arty still has an active spot which can provide overhead intel on troops respawning, etc. Once the flag is taken the helo picks up the fire team and repeats at a new location.

This would of course require somebody operating the arty that can place the barrage accurately to support the incoming fireteam and would also tie up the transport helo.

    Thoughts?

I have thought of setting up an arty squad with a chopper like this, but I don't know about the actual attacking idea. That fireteam would need to be in cover so they don't all get hit by friendly arty while the arty tank is firing it's test shots. IMO, they arty is good for keeping the enemy inside, destroying bridges (it works like a dream), and taking out vehicles in fixed positions. On the other hand this could work, I say we test it out tonight.
The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving.

    83. Must not start any SITREP (Situation Report) with "I recently had an experience I just had to write you about...."

My thought was to not actually deploy the fire team until the arty is zero'd on the target area, this would be the 2nd helo pass. Once that's done the arty is pretty pinpoint accurate. Of course this would take somebody who could zero the arty within a few shots, not 20.

Doable on paper but the game is too fast paced for it to really work in-game imo. You'd have to be flying really high with the chopper, at which point you either can't see or aim low enough to spot properly, because on maps with transport helos, there is ALWAYS an attack helo or a bunch of jets and stationary/mobile AA.

My most successful arty use so far (in terms of teamwork/useful kills and not just raw kill number) has been in a full squad on Rolling Thunder. We were Ukraine and my squad took the closest flag to the German UCB. They kept spotting in the middle of that outpost so I could see the enemy infantry with overhead view and report them, and I would place my arty target on the main entrance to that flag and my squad would report when they saw vehicles incoming from the UCB...then I would wait till they got near my target and fire.

Pretty much killed every tank/AA/jeep trying to get in the base.
