Re: Artillery practice anyone ?
Well current financial woes will keep me from joining the private server, but I would like to know how the system works. I joined the game earlier tonight on the public server, went commander thinking if someone spotted, I'd drop it... not how it works however :P I'd like to figure it out, I'm happy to see it requires teamwork and not just point and click for a single player

Re: Artillery practice anyone ?
My experience was that there are two methods for aiming, and the best bet was to use a little of both. Keeping in mind that I haven't watched any training videos or read any instructions...

First get the arty to a nice spot with level ground and no nearby obstructions. Then jump in the gunner seat. When you get a spot, rotate to aim as closely as possible to the desired direction, then
1. Click to fire and switch to the sat view with "2". This will let you see the spot and you should be able to adjust to hit the spot by repeating. Aim long at first, and you should see your shot go through the square, then you can pull back until you hit it. So hit 1, adjust, fire, hit 2, watch for impact. Repeat.
2. Switch to sat view, fire, and see where it goes. I find it difficult to know where the impact is in relation to the spot when doing this, so I wait until after I do step 1, then I use this method to hit areas near the spot. For this one, just hit 2, fire, hit 1 adjust, and repeat.
It's something to start with, anyway.Peace through fear... since 1947!
